She is a native of Kentucky, but she spent much of her childhood in Raleigh, North Carolina. Sara attended North Carolina State University for her undergraduate education. At NC State, Sara majored in political science with minors in history and French. She graduated from NC State summa cum laude after only three years and went on to attend Campbell Law School in North Carolina.. At Campbell Law School, Sara participated in moot court and worked for several firms in the Raleigh-Durham area.
