Barbara enjoys working collaboratively with her clients and uses a straightforward, innovative and practical approach to providing legal and business counsel.  Whether she is representing a client as outside general counsel or in connection with a specific transaction, she feels it is important for her to not only consider the legal implications but also the business challenges, goals and objectives in advocating for her clients.. Barbara has more than 20 years of experience representing the business needs of clients; first as a CPA for KPMG Peat Marwick and then as a Corporate, Securities and Finance attorney.  She earned her Juris Doctorate with honors from the University of Missouri-KC in 1994, where she was the Managing Editor of the UMKC Law Review.  Following five years of practicing law with an international law firm in Kansas City, Barbara moved to Seattle in 1999 to work for Perkins Coie, LLP.. On a personal note, because of her experiences growing up in Pakiston, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore as the child of career medical missionaries, Barbara has a broad view of the world and an appreciation for a variety of cultures. When she's not working, Barbara enjoys living her passion for adventure and travel.
