I enjoy practicing family law. Every day I find new challenges and I get the opportunity to work with good people, both other professionals and clients who have found success in many different fields. Family law covers a lot of legal issues, so I see my experience with CPS, criminal law, dependency, business entities, real property, and courtroom advocacy all come into play.. I started out as an attorney in Ellensburg, Washington as a criminal prosecutor where I handled DUI and domestic violence cases for the County and then progressively graduated to more complex cases like felony juvenile cases, and adult sexual assault prosecutions. Like most prosecutors, I was in court almost every day practicing how to present evidence and arguments to judges and juries.. I then moved on to a private firm in Ellensburg, Lathrop, Winbauer, et al., which is sort of a one-stop-shop for any legal issues people or businesses in a small town could have. This type of broad, general practice just does not exist in larger cities, where attorneys are more specialized, so I gained a lot by being exposed to many different practice areas, such as real estate, business formation, construction litigation, collections, dependency, dissolution, adoption, criminal defense, probate, estate planning, and landlord/tenant. I took advantage of excellent mentoring from a group of highly experienced and highly capable attorneys there for three years. I gained a keen interest in domestic relations law during this time.. In order to come back to where my wife and I grew up, on the Westside of the mountains, I moved to Mount Vernon and practiced family law here for a year before I had the opportunity to open my own practice. I love having my own office. I think it helps me to better serve individual clients and to set up an office framework that just works when it comes to communicating with, caring for, and helping clients solve tough problems. I look at each person who walks in my door as a unique individual who deserves my full attention, best efforts and honest, straightforward legal counsel.
