Legal & Trial Experience. Mr. Medina has over 21 years of legal experience. He spent 14 of those years prosecuting cases as a Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney. Mr. Medina uses his vast knowledge of the system to benefit his clients at every stage and every level of the criminal court process. He prosecuted over 4800 cases at various stages, from Class X Felonies to Misdemeanor Traffic and DUI matters.. Clients benefit from Mr. Medina’s inside-perspective as a former prosecutor as well his experience conducting countless jury and bench trials. While assigned to the Domestic Violence Unit, Mr. Medina was responsible for directing the prosecution of between 60 and 200 cases per month, prosecuting felony domestic violence cases including aggravated domestic battery, aggravated unlawful restraint, and felony domestic battery.. When Mr. Medina advanced to the Felony Review Unit of the Office of the Cook County State's Attorney, he gained first-hand experience analyzing cases and understanding police procedures with felony investigations. Among the thousands of cases Mr. Medina participated in approving for felony charges were first-degree murder, aggravated criminal sexual assault, kidnapping, aggravated arson, armed robbery, aggravated dui, reckless homicide, felony DUI and many others.. Legal Books Published. Mr. Medina has authored three criminal law and procedure books and many law journal articles. His books include, Real World Search & Seizure [Second Edition] (Looseleaf Law Press, 2012); Winning Court Testimony For Law Enforcement Officers: The Law, Art & Science Of Effective Court Communication (Looseleaf Law Press, 2012) and Real World Search & Seizure (Looseleaf Law Press, 2006).. Legal Journals Published.
