Kate Moore’s practice focuses on natural resource and environmental law. She is an active participant on our firm’s Environmental Team and Agricultural and Natural Resource Team, and leads Dunn Carney’s Sustainability Team.. Kate’s natural resource practice is primarily focused in water law, in both transactional matters and litigation. She advises clients on water rights permitting and transfers, water rights transactions, wetlands, and water quality. In addition, Kate’s natural resource practice covers matters related to NEPA, public land permits and licenses, and the Endangered Species Act.. Kate also advises clients on a variety of environmental matters. Her work in this area covers environmental compliance, identifying and addressing environmental liabilities in property transactions, and Superfund and other environmental cleanup and cost recovery actions, including environmental insurance defense work.. Kate has represented a broad range of clients including commercial and industrial land owners, farmers, ranchers, ditch companies, and homeowners associations. She is also a regular contributor to Dunn Carney’s Natural Resources Updates.. Prior to joining Dunn Carney, Kate worked as an attorney with the Law Office of Peter Mohr, focusing primarily on water resource matters, and for former U.S. Senator Donald W. Stewart representing a group of plaintiffs in a toxic tort case. She graduated from Lewis & Clark Law School with a Certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law, interning in the summers with Mentor Law Group and the Columbia Basin Water Transactions Program.. Before law school Kate worked for a land trust in Colorado’s Eagle River Valley, helping landowners and public land agencies create conservation easements and facilitate land trades to preserve lands for agriculture, wildlife and scenic beauty. Kate received her B.A. from Middlebury College in Vermont, majoring in Environmental Studies with a focus on conservation biology.. In her free time, Kate enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, and taking photographs, hiking, and skiing in Oregon’s many beautiful areas.
