After spending his first ten years out of law school in some of the largest and most-established law firms in the Twin Cities and as General Counsel for a Minneapolis-based company, Tim pursued his career-long dream and founded the Peters Law Firm in 2006 with a vision of building a law firm dedicated to servicing the business needs of small and medium-size companies. Tim continues to have large and publicly-traded clients as well and has successfully provided all of his clients with "big firm" expertise with the benefits of small firm representation. Today, the Peters Law Firm is "All Business" and Tim serves as outside general counsel to many businesses, business owners and investors.. After seven years in the making, the Peters Law Firm continues to grow and consistently achieves excellent results for its clients - both at the negotiating table and in the courtroom. Prior to law school, Tim worked for large publicly-traded companies in mergers and acquisitions, marketing and management in Boston, Atlanta, and South Florida. Today, Tim has over 25 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions and over 16 years of experience in corporate law and complex commercial litigation in an impressive variety of practice areas. Tim has extensive experience in counseling and advising boards of directors and corporate principals with respect to litigation, fiduciary duties, financing, employment and general business law. Tim's clients appreciate his ability to assist them in being proactive, oftentimes preventing business complications and expensive litigation through planning, negotiation and pre-litigation settlements. But if need be, Tim is a passionate litigator and is ready, willing and quite able to take his client's cause to the courtroom where he has numerous motion, trial and appellate victories to his credit. Tim received his B.A. from the College of St. Thomas in 1988 (n/k/a the University of St. Thomas) and earned his J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in 1996. While working his way through law school, Tim competed in moot court competitions at the local and regional levels where he received honors for his oral arguments and "Best Appellate Brief." He is a founder and past-president of the William Mitchell Law School Republicans which, by the time of his graduation, became the largest student organization on campus.  Beyond his law practice, Tim is the proud father of four young children (ages 7 to 12) and takes every opportunity to be with them in the great outdoors, in their school as a parent volunteer and Art Adventure instructor, and as a cheerleader and coach in their many sports. He is an avid fisherman, upland hunter (with his two Weimaraner pointing dogs), water skier, snowmobiler, and enjoys an occasional game of golf. In his younger years, Tim played football in college as a defensive end and played professionally in Europe with the London Heathrow Jets as the starting middle linebacker. A South Dakota native, Tim spent years on the rodeo circuit as a bull rider and bareback bronc rider. Today, he gives back to the sport of professional rodeo by providing pro bono legal services to Riding High Ministries, an Idaho-based Christian ministry that works with the PBR, its professional bull riders, their families and fans.
