Richard Bland has been a practicing attorney in the Boston area since 1990, specializing in real estate and corporate law. Prior to that time, he was in the real estate management and development industry. He was involved in the Raymond Group’s development of the Charlestown Navy Yard, in particular the development of the Flagship Wharf condominium, management of the Navy Yard’s apartment, marina and commercial properties, and the Massachusetts General Hospital’s Charlestown research laboratories and several other MGH-related properties in Boston. Prior to that he was the Owner’s agent for the marketing and development of the 45-story mixed-use Devonshire Tower in Downtown Boston, and also the President of Hunneman Investment Management Corporation, which managed property all over New England, including much of Harvard’s income-producing property. He also worked in acquisition and management of Nathan R. Miller’s office properties in Downtown Boston during the years following graduation from Harvard Business School.. Bland’s law practice is built on these prior experiences, and he has many small business and medical-related clients throughout New England, and in Ontario, Canada and the San Francisco Bay area. In addition, he has extensive non-profit experience, including 20 years of leadership of the Boston Zoological Society, the Greater Boston Real Estate Board and membership on many Harvard Business School Community Action Program team projects, such as Children’s Hospital Boston Brazelton Institute, Trustees of the Sudbury Valley, ACCION International, Boston Veterans Administration Research Institute, the Walker Home and School and The Brain Tumor Society. Bland is a member of the Board of Directors of the Harvard Business School Association of Southeastern New England. He was involved in the development of Glen Farm Polo and horse jumping venue in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. He has three young children, and enjoys teaching them horseback riding, including polo, fox hunting and jumping, body surfing and other outdoor activities.
