After that she opened her own law office and worked for a criminal defense panel in Riverside County. During this time, she tried and defended thousands of clients charged with a range of offenses. She and her partner, Lori A. Davis, formed Davis & Mattern, LLP, a firm dedicated to the practice of criminal defense, in 2000 and relocated to Newport Beach. In 2007, Ms. Mattern closed her law practice, but continued defending clients in private practice. From 2007 through 2011, Ms. Mattern worked as a Senior Attorney for two large criminal defense law firms. In 2011, she renewed her private practice, now under the name Mattern & Mendoza, LLP, in Los Angeles.. Ms. Mattern is a member of the Criminal Law section of the California Bar. She is a former Temporary Judge for the Superior Court for the County of Orange. She has been admitted to Federal and State courts throughout California and across the United States. She has achieved impressive results, including dismissals of charges against her clients who were facing various kinds of charges.. Ms. Mattern has obtained sentences of electronic monitoring, work furlough and county jail for clients against whom prosecutors initially sought long state prison sentences.
