Gavin worked as a server at a restaurant throughout law school. Gavin enjoyed running for stress relief, running 10 miles a day 5 days a week.. After law school, Gavin served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Richard W. English, J.S.C., in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Monmouth Vicinage. Gavin's clerkship was split between the Chancery Division, Family Part and the Law Division, Criminal Part. Due to this unusual occurrence, Gavin gained intimate knowledge of the functions and nuances of the Courts. Gavin formed lasting relationships with permanent court staff and attorneys who regularly appeared in the courtroom.
