Gary graduated from the University of Puget Sound Law School (now Seattle University) in 1976.  He graduated from Washington State University in 1973 and coached football there as a graduate assistant, after completing his football career.  Gary is a 1968 graduate of Issaquah High School.. Gary and his wife, Carol, a retired school teacher have lived in the Issaquah area since the early ‘80s when he joined the law firm of Thomas Whittington Bergan Studebaker, Inc. P.S., which was started by another Issaquah native, Nate Thomas, in the early ‘70s.. Gary and Carol have two children; Britta who is pursuing her Doctorate Degree in Psychology and Callie, who works for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
