With an understanding that no two families, nor the experience that individuals have in those families, are alike, I have attempted to expand both my knowledge and skills in the field of Family Law by engaging in a variety of learning experiences. While earning my undergraduate degree in Social Work, I worked as a case worker for Parsons Foster Care, aiding in the growth of youth in our care. While in Law School, I was employed at the Office of Children and Family Services, working both in their litigation department and overseeing abuse and neglect appeals. After graduating cum laude from Albany Law School in 2019, I began my career as a Family Attorney at Cordell Law, LLP, specializing in domestic litigation. Everyday I continue to learn from this field, from my career, and from my clients. Being able to meet people where they are and work with them towards a brighter future drives a successful attorney and in turn a successful law firm.

The pursuit of justice on behalf of those who have been taken advantage of by wrongdoers is paramount. Calling to account those who have taken advantage of innocent taxpayers is also highly rewarding.

Husband, Father, Lawyer.  Martin is admitted to practice in New York State, Connecticut State and Federal Courts (Northern District of New York, 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court). He is also Certified by the New York State Department of Education to serve as an impartial Hearing Officer and he is a Licensed Real Estate Broker in New York State. In the past he served a five year term as an elected trustee at the Guilderland Public Library.  He also served as a Pro Bono attorney in the Federal Court in Albany and acted as a Law Guardian on the Family Court panel in Albany County and Rensselaer County.

Emily M. Kortright joined The Colwell Law Group as an Associate Attorney in July of 2022. Emily was previously employed as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Rodney Cunningham, J.S.C., at the Atlantic County Superior Court, Family Division, dealing with matters relating to child abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, custody, and adoption.. Emily was awarded the Clinical Legal Education Association Outstanding Clinic Student Award for her work with the Dickinson Law Children’s Advocacy Clinic in her second and third years. Courtney Anauo joined The Colwell Law Group, LLC in May of 2022 as an Associate Attorney. She graduated from The University of Connecticut School of Law in May of 2013 and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2021. Upon graduating from law school, Courtney served a Senior Compliance Service Specialist (a JD preferred position where bar admission was not required) and led a team in forming LLCs for non-profits, developed work flow and procedures as well as worked with corporate clients. Ultimately though it was the love of the law that dictated her decision to reject a promotion and take the bar exam to return to the practice of law.. Prior to law school, Courtney attended Siena College as a Presidential Scholar and Honor’s Fellow and received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with minors in Peace Studies and Woman’s Studies. Courtney’s Senior Thesis explored “Who Deserves the Right to Vote: Felon Disenfranchisement as a Violation of the Eighth Amendment”..
