Paul R. Thurmond was born in Greenwood, S.C., the youngest son of Senator Strom Thurmond and Nancy Moore Thurmond. A native of Aiken, South Carolina, Paul Thurmond graduated from Aiken High School and earned an athletic scholarship to Vanderbilt University. While at Vanderbilt, Thurmond was a four year letterman on the tennis team, achieving national ranking and serving as team captain his senior year. Every year eligible, Thurmond also received Academic All-SEC honors.. Bradford was born and raised in Florence, South Carolina. He obtained his B.A. in Political Science from the Citadel in 2001. While at the Citadel, Bradford was an academic standout and recipient of the Bernard Baruch and Frank W. Cayce academic scholarships. He was also a member of the football team and served as his company’s athletic officer. In 2005, Bradford obtained his law degree from the University of South Carolina.
