In 1985, I graduated from the Pepperdine University School of Law in the top half of my class, with valuable experience there in trial advocacy, moot court competition, legal research and writing, an evidence law internship, and a judicial externship at the Santa Monica Superior Court.  I also possess a Masters' Degree in English Literature from Indiana State University, where I taught English Composition as a University Fellow, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the State University of New York, where I earned a 3.18 GPA and a Regents Scholarship from 1973-1977. I graduated from college at the age of 20.. Although many in my larger family have become doctors and lawyers, my mother and father were not rich or college educated and they were unable to put me through college or law school.  Instead, I worked my way through college, graduate school and law school, obtaining scholarships all along the way through hard work, perseverance, keeping my nose to the grindstone and burning lots of midnight oil..
