Ms. Hoffman limits her practice to divorce and family law matters. This includes a wide array of legal issues ranging from domestic violence, custody and child support, to post judgment actions. There, she was awarded the Excellent Achievement in the Study of Trial Practice award by the College of Law, as well as bestowed a Certificate of Specialization in Family Law & Social Policy. She began her practice in this field as a Student Attorney in the Children's Rights and Family Clinic representing clients in court even before graduation.. Joseph C. Berger, a Principal in the Firm of Berger & Kernan, P.C., is a graduate of Fairfield University and Fordham School of Law. Mr. Berger has practiced for over 30 years as a trial attorney in the areas of Matrimonial Law, Employment Law, Corporate Law and Environmental Law. During his tenure as an in-house counsel at General Electric Company, Mr. Berger handled numerous labor arbitration cases. His publications include “A Manager’s Guide to Environmental Compliance ©.”In recent years, Mr. Berger has increasingly concentrated his practice in the area of Matrimonial Law. He has handled many complex litigations involving equitable distribution of marital property, maintenance and child custody. In dealing with extremely emotional issues, especially custody, Mr. Berger is guided by the principle that the best interests of the child must be the primary goal of all parties. Mr. Berger is mindful that litigation can be very expensive. Therefore, he strives to achieve settlements which are acceptable to the parties. However, when a trial becomes inevitable, his thirty years of experience in the courtroom is brought to bear in his clients’ service. Currently, Mr. Berger serves as an Alternative Dispute Resolution Arbitrator/Mediator for the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Saratoga County Bar Association.
