While I participate in some personal injury cases, my main job is consulting with and helping people with consumer debt.. A big part of the job is counseling people who might otherwise panic and file Chapter 13 bankruptcy to stop a threatened foreclosure.  Very often that foreclosure does not happen, and the customer's decision not to file Chapter 13 bankruptcy turns out to be wise..
