As a lawyer for the past 39 years, I have seen firsthand the terrible consequences of injuries and death which have been suffered by clients and their families. In addition to physical pain and suffering, there are significant financial losses. Our job is to try to provide as much assistance as possible to the victims of negligence when it is a result of the conduct of others.. In most cases, insurance companies and large corporations seek to deny liability, delay a case and blame others including the victim of their negligence. Initial settlements, if offered at all, tend to be far lower than the appropriate value of the case.. Our firm works hard to establish liability as soon as possible and keep our clients advised of the progress of their case.. I have had the opportunity to try many cases to verdict before juries around the State of Michigan. We are prepared to spend whatever amount of money is necessary on the preparation of a case in order to do the very best possible job we can for our clients.. If you have been injured due to the negligence of another person or corporation, we invite you to call so that we can meet with you to discuss your case.. There is never a charge or obligation for any meeting. We will attempt to give you as open and honest an assessment as we can initially and explain to you how our firm works and what you might reasonably be expected to achieve in terms of a resolution.
I devote a majority of my practice to representing individuals injured as a result of nursing home neglect and abuse and medical malpractice. When placing the care of a loved one into the hands of another, family members want to feel secure knowing that this individual will be properly cared for. While that is the intent, the unfortunate reality is that abuse and injury continue to occur at adult foster care homes and long-term care facilities.Today, these facilities are chronically understaffed and residents are often cared for by individuals who have limited training and no medical background. This can result in abuse and neglect, as the staff fail to recognize when significant health issues arise or they may fail to meet the resident’s most basic needs. As a lawyer with many years of experience litigating cases of abuse and neglect in adult foster care homes, I have seen the problems that arise when non-skilled workers are tasked with caring for adults who have physical disabilities, psychiatric disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, and/or are elderly. Many of Michigan’s most vulnerable adults-those who cannot communicate verbally or have a limited ability to communicate-live in this setting, and as a result, tragedies occur. I am proud to advocate on behalf of the elderly, and I will continue to seek justice for individuals who have been injured while in the care of a nursing home, senior living facility, or adult foster care home. I have been selected as a SuperLawyer Rising Star on six occasions and am an active member of the Michigan Association of Justice, the American Association of Justice, the Macomb County Bar Association, Women Lawyers Association, and the Michigan State Bar Negligence Law Division.
As a trial lawyer, I represent individuals injured as a result of nursing home neglect and abuse, as well as medical malpractice.. Residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities and their families should not have to worry about abuse or neglect, or that sub-standard care will result in injury or death. Our parents in these facilities should be taken care of with the highest possible care, just as they once cared for us.Unfortunately elder abuse and injury continues to occur at nursing homes and long-term care facilities.Parents and loved ones who contributed so much to our society in their younger years are often placed in facilities that promise to provide adequate care. When these facilities fail to keep this promise and our loved ones are abused or injured through negligence or carelessness, I and our firm seek to hold those responsible for the injuries they cause.I am proud to advocate on behalf of the elderly and in working toward the goal of eliminating nursing home and long-term care facility abuse and neglect. At many facilities, more oversight of staff is needed in order to ensure that proper attention is devoted to the care of residents, and to identify and eliminate dangerous conditions that can lead to injury to elderly residents.
