Caroline is a native of the Charleston area. She grew up on James Island and attended Ashley Hall School from kindergarten through graduation in 1989, after which she studied political science and economics at the College of Charleston, graduating with both a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993.. While at the College of Charleston, Caroline was a member of Tri Delta sorority and served on the Honor Board, becoming the first female chair of the Honor Board in the history of the College. While in law school at Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, Caroline was recognized for her writing and research skills and served as a Cordell Hull Teaching Fellow.. From 1994 through 1996, she was employed as a law clerk at McDaniel, Hall, Conerly, & Lusk in Birmingham, Alabama, and from 1995 through 1996, she was also employed as a law clerk at Gedney M. Howe, III, PA.. After graduating from law school in 1996, she served as law clerk to the Honorable Charles Whetstone, Judge for the First Judicial Circuit in South Carolina. She then began practicing law at Gedney M. Howe, III, PA.. She was a member of the Founding Board of the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry and served on the Executive Committee for the Board, as well as a member of the College of Charleston Cougar Club Board of Directors, having served on its Executive Committee, and is a member of the National Alumnae Council for Ashley Hall School, serving as liaison to the Alumnae Association.. She resides on James Island with her daughter, Isabel.
