I’m a proud, native North Carolinian. I grew up in Greensboro and got to attend UNC Chapel Hill for college. During those years, I was involved pretty heavily in my church, different community service groups, and soccer. After college, I went to Liberty University School of Law, passed the California bar exam, and joined a talent agency as an agent’s assistant in Los Angeles. After a few months in the position, I realized I wanted to practice law and live in the south. So, I moved back to North Carolina. Shortly after returning, I took the North Carolina bar exam and joined the NC State Bar. About a year and a half later, I met Matthew Weaver in Columbia, SC and we started this firm in Charlotte.. One of the primary reasons I started this firm was because I noticed, and wanted to help fight, a problem that happens every day in criminal law. I don’t know whether it’s systemic or reflects misplaced goals in our legal system but once you see someone go into the court system, you rarely see them get out. And so, as a criminal defense attorney, I set two goals for my firm. The first is fairly simple. If you’re innocent, Matthew and I will fight to keep you out of the system. The second is a bit more complicated and involves working with clients that are looking to right their wrong. That often involves pushing for sentences that promote rehabilitation instead of recidivism. So, I’m very interested in pushing toward creative sentencing in the NC courts, increasing rehabilitation opportunities, and limiting the need for incarceration. I am an associate in Mayer Brown's Charlotte office and a member of the Real Estate Markets practice. I represent institutional lenders in the financing and servicing of a broad range of lending products secured by commercial and multifamily residential real estate assets, including mortgage loans, mezzanine loans and participation interests.. The primary focus of my practice involves repurchase (warehouse) facilities and other secured lending facilities collateralized by commercial real estate loans. I have extensive experience representing lenders through all stages of the facility life cycle including negotiation and structuring of the facility, pre-purchase due diligence, asset management, and exiting assets though a broad range of strategies including CRE CLO and CMBS securitizations. I also have experience negotiating co-lender agreements, intercreditor agreements and participation agreements, representing loan sellers and loan purchasers in compliance and disclosure matters related to the aggregation of loans for securitization, and in servicing matters including loan workouts, assumptions, restructurings, modifications and foreclosures.

Adam J. Adam was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland.  In August of 2000, he enlisted in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Systems Maintainer, deploying to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Southern Watch in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks.  By July of 2003, he was selected for the prestigious SOAR program (Scholarships for Outstanding Airmen to ROTC) to pursue a commission as an Officer.  Adam attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where he completed four years of ROTC and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  Adam then moved to North Carolina, earning his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  While studying law at UNC, he was dually assigned to the Air Force Institute of Technology and UNC’s ROTC program.  He also served as a Carolina Law Ambassador and was a merit-based scholarship recipient. In his spare time, Adam enjoys spending time with friends and family, SEC football (Go Gators!), ACC basketball (Go Heels!) and his dogs, Parker and Spooky.  His wife, Kristen, is a native Charlottean and practicing Nurse Anesthetist.
