He teaches Regulation of Land Use, Real Estate Transactions and Conveyancing, Housing and Urban Development, Property, and related seminars. Mr. Washburn's practice includes general real estate and development matters, including utility law, land use, real estate contracts and financing, syndications, homeowners association and condominium law, land use litigation, legislation and ordinance drafting and review, Planned Real Estate Development Full Disclosure Act registrations, and appearances before municipal bodies and administrative agencies. Among his clients are builders, developers, and construction industry trade associations.. Mr. Washburn has been a frequent lecturer at programs sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders, the New Jersey Builders Association.. He has served on many committees of the National Association of Home Builders, including the NAHB Smart Growth Working Group, Nationwide Permit Working Group, FRT Plywood Task Force, Legal Action Committee and Litigation Subcommittee. As a member of the New Jersey Builders Association (NJBA), he also has served on its Permit Reform Task Force. Mr. Washburn served on the Planning Committee of the National Judicial College, where he moderated and spoke at seminars, including "Trying and Settling Land Use Cases." He is a life member of the NJBA Board of Directors. He serves as General Counsel to the NJBA as well as to the Builders League of South Jersey (BLSJ). In 2006, the BLSJ inducted him as an associate into their “Hall of Fame.” Mr. Washburn is also a member of the Steering Committee of the Legal Action Network for Development Strategies (LANDS).
