I began my practice at Whitfield & Eddy in 1991. Since that time, my practice has focused on civil trial work, concentrating primarily on product liability defense and insurance coverage and related commercial and construction issues.. I have worked on numerous appellate cases in the Iowa Supreme Court, Court of Appeals and the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.. In addition to writing numerous articles about trial, product liability, and insurance coverage issues, I worked on appellate briefing in the 6th and 10th Circuits and the United States Supreme Court.

I am the chairperson of the Whitfield & Eddy Law Insurance Law Practice Group and my practice primarily consists of defending cases involving claims against individuals, insurance carriers, businesses, and financial institutions.  Throughout my career, I have tried dozens of cases.  I am licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota, as well as the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.. Given my level of jury trial experience, I was elected into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), a national invitation-only organization for lawyers requiring significant jury trial experience as a qualification for membership.  I am the Immediate Past President of the Iowa Chapter of ABOTA.  In addition to ABOTA, I am an active member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC), a peer-selected organization composed of leaders in the legal defense community who have achieved professional distinction.  I have also been named a Fellow in the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers, an organization limited to 250 of the most experienced trial lawyers in the State of Iowa.  I am have been rated by Martindale-Hubbell at the AV (highest) level for legal ethics and ability.. The judge agreed with Gina that the man should never have been approached by police to begin with, and so the police had violated the man’s constitutional rights. • Not guilty verdict: A Polk County jury deliberated for only 15 minutes before finding Gina’s client Keilon Hill NOT GUILTY of harassment of a public official. Mr. Hill was canvassing for a political candidate in West Des Moines when a local resident reported him as a “suspicious person.” Mr. Hill repeatedly asked the responding officer if he had broken any laws and received no answer. The officer arrested Mr. Hill after Mr. Hill asked the officer to leave him alone and walked away. The jury agreed with Gina that asserting your right to be left alone is not a crime. • Murder conviction overturned: Gina represented a young woman who was convicted of killing her toddler and was serving a life sentence. Gina convinced the judge to overturn the 1st degree murder conviction and order a new trial for the client. The judge granted a new trial because Gina was able to establish that the client’s trial attorney made several serious errors at the client’s first trial.

Frank is a Spanish-speaking attorney practicing law in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born and raised in southern California. After spending his early life in Joshua Tree, California, he completed his undergraduate degree with highest honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara in Spanish and Sociology. Afterwards, he obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Los Angeles. He lived in South America during both his undergraduate and law school studies. Elizabeth Pudenz has been practicing law in the area of civil litigation since 2007.  She began her career in Cook County, Illinois where she practiced in the areas of medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, premises liability, construction liability and trucking and automobile accidents.  While in Chicago, she gained extensive first and second chair trial experience trying dozens of cases reaching favorable verdicts for her clients.  She also successfully handled hundreds of binding arbitrations in Cook County and the surrounding counties where she presented and defended cases before arbitrators obtaining successful awards for her clients.  Ms. Pudenz has years of experience handling particularly complicated injury cases including wrongful death, birth injuries, spinal cord injuries and victims of sexual abuse.  Over the years, she has obtained numerous settlements for her clients as a result of her dedicated tireless advocating.. Dustin is a partner with Mueller, Schmidt, Mulholland & Cooling, PLLC.  Prior to establishing Mueller, Berg & Schmidt, Dustin worked for Spaulding, Berg & Schmidt as an associate attorney for several years.
