Andrew works to build strategic partnerships with clients primarily within the Ahlers & Cooney Litigation, ADR & Emergency Response/Investigation and Employment & Labor Law practice areas.  This work entails creating means to achieve clients’ objectives through all phases of pre-litigation, litigation, trial and/or appeal.  He spends the majority of his time counseling clients through all types of litigation in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels and before many national, state and local administrative agencies.. In the litigation arena, Andrew has handled widely varied claims involving such things as construction/surety concerns/claims, commercial contract disputes, product liability claims, fire and explosion investigations/claims, insurance bad faith claims, aviation accidents, libel and slander claims, premises liability claims, and automobile accidents.  Most recently, Andrew has spent a significant amount of time defending product liability claims affecting such industries as: consumer products, industrial machinery and equipment, agricultural machinery, commercial products, and transportation and trucking.. In the employment arena, Andrew’s experience has been in responding to allegations of wrongful actions and/or injuries in the workplace.  He has handled claims alleging all types of discrimination, harassment or retaliation under state and federal law, breach of express and implied contracts including non-compete and non-solicitation provisions, violations of public policy, defamation, promissory estoppel, interference with contract, blacklisting and other related claims.  He has also defended both self-insured and insured employers when confronted with allegations of workplace injuries involving sizable exposures for monetary awards.

Andrew is a member of the Trademark, Copyright and Litigation Practice Groups. He primarily practices in the areas of Trademark and Copyright Law and has unique experience in color trademark enforcement and litigation.. Prior to attending Drake University Law School, Andrew received his degree in political science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he studied interstate conflict with a special focus in nuclear non-proliferation.

Amy’s practice includes corporate law, banking law, mergers and acquisitions, business formations, e-commerce, intellectual property law, and publishing law. Amy also assists clients on real estate transactions and general estate planning. She serves as chair of the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group and currently serves on the firm’s Board of Directors.. Amy earned her B.S. from the University of Minnesota in 1999 and her J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2002. She is a member of the Polk County, Iowa State and American Bar Associations.

Amanda Bartusek grew up in Urbandale, Iowa.  She attended the University of Iowa where she obtained a bachelor of arts in Political Science and Religious Studies. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Iowa College of Law where during which time she clerked for NSBA, Governor Brandstad's Office, and the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa. While at Iowa law, Ms. Bartusek served as a student writer for the Journal of Corporation Law and as a student representative on the Curriculum Committee.

Alecia is an associate attorney working with clients on both commercial and residential real estate transactions, as well as related business entity needs. She assists buyers, sellers, and lenders with purchases and conveyances, real estate development, and resolution of title objections.. Additionally, she works with landowners and tenants on residential, commercial, and agricultural leasing matters, including property management agreements. Alecia also has experience with rural property issues related to easements, drainage, government programs and other regulatory concerns.
