Jacob was born and raised in Washington and attended the University of Washington where he majored in History, with a focus on the history of science.. Jacob graduated from Seattle University School of Law. During his second summer at Seattle University, Jacob was a Rule 9 intern with the Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. While at the Snohomish County, he represented the State of Washington in hundreds of traffic infraction negotiations and hearings. He was also able to take several cases to trial and argue several motions. Jacob also interned at the United States Coast Guard for a semester.. Besides his experience in the courtroom, Jacob has clerked for the Honorable Janice E. Ellis in Snohomish County Superior Court.. Jacob is also passionate about being active in the community. He has volunteered on numerous campaigns, mentored law students, and gave back to organizations, like the Technology Student Association, who helped him get to where he is today.. Jacob currently practices a mixture of criminal defense and traffic infraction defense with a focus on DUIs.. I joined Adler Giersch in March of 2022, following nearly five years as a prosecutor with the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office where I was an advocate for crime victims. As an attorney with Adler Giersch, I am dedicated to helping achieve civil justice for victims of other people’s negligence. I have extensive courtroom experience, having completed over 30 jury trials on cases ranging from drunk driving to murder. Along with the amazing co-counsel at Adler Giersch, I am dedicated to ensuring that every client is treated fairly and that their case gets the attention it deserves.

I have been practicing law for over 29 years (30 years this year), most of which has been focused upon family law, including all aspects from starting a family, adoption, custody, separation, divorce, and often handling complex property/ high asset and business issues.  In addition, I routinely handle international divorces and international custody cases, Hague cases, and interstate disputes. I also represent parents in juvenlle cases (dependency and neglect), and guardianship cases.  In my practice, I work to offer a collaborative approach if possible for a case, although I zealously advocate for my clients. I enjoy helping people find solutions instead of creating unnecessary obstacles, and I endeavor to do this respectfully and diligently, helping my clients look at all avenues to resolve their case.   I encourage parents to consider the children in regards to their actions in cases, especially when formulating parenting plans or planning a relocation.  I am a certified mediator and a trained collaborative lawyer.  I am a member of the American Bar Association Family Law Section, the Washington State Bar Association, Oregon State Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association,  International Association of Collaborative Professionals, AFCC, the National Association of Counsel for Children, and Whatcom Collaborative Law Group. I practice in Snohomish County, Skagit County and Whatcom County.  In my "free time" I enjoy hiking, yoga, kayaking, spending time with my family, going to concerts, and taking care of animals.
