I worked for Target Corporation in Human Resources for both the stores and distribution after college.  While working for Target Corp., I implemented HR policies and procedures for the stores, helped create a centralized recruiting program for the distribution centers, and worked extensively on employee relations issues.. Upon graduation from law school in 2004, I began my career with the Atlanta office of Ogletree Deakins (an international employment law defense firm), after clerking with the Indianapolis office during law school.  In Atlanta, I focused on many aspects of employment law including, but not limited to, employment litigation.  In 2010 and 2011, I served as in-house counsel for Regis Corporation in Minneapolis where I advised internal clients on handling employment disputes as well as implemented an internal wage and hour compliance program.. I returned to Ogletree in 2011 at its Minneapolis office and last moved to Seattle.  For the last year, I worked in Ogletree’s Seattle office honing my skills related to Washington state’s employment laws.

As an attorney specializing in matters involving labor, employment, and corporate dispute issues, Sarah regularly advises clients on issues arising under Washington, California, and Federal law. Sarah has substantial experience in employment litigation, particularly in the areas of trade secret misappropriation and discrimination claims. Sarah has managed and participated in all phases of the pre-trial process in both employment and corporate matters, including complex and voluminous electronic discovery, motions practice, and mediations.  Sarah also provides sexual harassment training and advice regarding legal issues arising from social media and other personnel matters.. Before becoming an attorney, Sarah served in an advisory capacity as a human resources specialist for the Federal government, where she became well-versed in the rights and obligations unique to federal employees. She has experience in the administrative law sector, particularly the EEOC, where she clerked for an administrative law judge. As a legal consultant, Sarah has handled internal investigations involving sexual harassment, workplace violence, leave administration, and issues regarding ADA and EEOC compliance. Additionally, she has defended plaintiffs in bad faith insurance claims in first-party property matters.
