I am prepared to answer your questions regarding family law, divorce, child-related issues, estate planning and consumer bankruptcy.. I graduated from New England School of Law cum laude, in the top 15% of the class and then earned Master of Law degree in Taxation with concentration in Estate Planning from Boston University. After graduation from law school, I had the honor of serving as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Justices of the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court in Suffolk, Middlesex, Bristol and Worcester Counties, where my duties included conducting research on complex legal issues, writing legal memoranda, drafting decisions, findings of fact, and conclusions of law while working under close supervision of the Justices. Currently, I regularly serve as a pro bono attorney for the clients of the MetroWest Legal Services.. I worked full-time while completing my law degree at night. In law school, after a school-wide writing competition, I was awarded membership onto the New England Journal on Civil and Criminal Confinement, where I served as a Case Comment & Note Editor. Also, during that time, I worked at the New England Innocence Project, reviewing files of inmates in search of various physical evidence which would make inmates’ acquittals through DNA testing possible.. Before earning my Juris Doctor Degree, I have been in a legal profession for nearly a decade. I immigrated to the United States in 1993, first settling in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1996, I began working as a secretary in a solo practice that served Russian and Ukrainian immigrants. Always working full-time and studying, I earned my Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies from Community College of Philadelphia and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from Temple University.. Before immigrating to the United States, I was a ballet dancer, performing for National Opera of the Ukraine, Kiev Classical Ballet Theater and other dance companies in Kiev, Ukraine.
I am a Massachusetts attorney, often recognized by my peers and the media for my expertise in real estate matters, including litigation, title and conveyancing. While my speciality is real estate law, I have a fairly diversified practice, assisting clients with anything from business and probate litigation, business start-up formation to trademark applications. As a business and real estate litigator, I am often found litigating real estate disputes such as adverse possession, boundary disputes, zoning appeals, condominium disputes, breach of contract, title and landlord-tenant cases. Unlike a lot of litigators these days, I've actually tried cases, both before a jury and judge. I also have significant appellate experience in the Appeals Court, Supreme Judicial Court, and First Circuit. I am also well-versed in alternative dispute resolution, arbitration, and mediation, where a majority of cases are settled today. I also handle a substantial amount of residential conveyancing. Along with my business partner, Attorney Marc Canner, I founded TitleHub Closing Services LLC, which does full service settlement agent work for national, regional and local lenders, as well as individual borrowers and sellers.. Because I have raised a child with severe special needs and even suffered through the loss of her, my focus is very passionate and fulfilling. This is my life, not my work. I have applied to become a foster parent for medically fragile children who are waiting to be placed. I am a mission driven person and I live my life intentionally. I am very concerned that we are not bringing along enough passionate advocates for this cause, so this year I have started a series of webinars and an in person conference to promote special needs advocacy (practicing beyond the special needs trust) for our membership at MassNAELA in an effort to engage our attorneys in deepening their special needs practice. Although we are a small firm, we do our best to mentor along new attorneys and colleagues in this area of practice. In addition, in the last twelve months we clocked over 200 hours of pro bono work, which is substantial for a small law firm with only 7 employees total.
