Jonathan is proud to be the newest member of the GriffithLaw team. He has dedicated his legal career to fighting for injured people and their families. Jonathan grew up near Charlotte, North Carolina as the son of a pastor in a family of seven. This upbringing left Jonathan with a strong desire for justice, particularly for the disadvantaged. Jonathan graduated summa cum laude from Appalachian State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and received his law degree from the University of Kentucky in 2012. While in law school, Jonathan felt called to spend his time helping individuals who could not help themselves. He participated in U.K.’s Legal Clinic program, representing people who needed legal services, but could not afford to hire an attorney. He also volunteered with a prosecutor’s office during both of his summers, assisting the victims of crimes. Following law school, Jonathan began his legal career with a small firm in Bowling Green, Kentucky, helping the victims of car wrecks, semi-truck collisions, and slip/trip and fall incidents. Jonathan moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2014 and has represented injured people in both Tennessee and Kentucky ever since with Hughes and Coleman and Bill Easterly and Associates prior to joining GriffithLaw.. When he’s not fighting for his clients, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, Christian, and their one-year-old pride and joy, Landon. Jonathan is an avid sports fan and also enjoys weight-lifting, running, and any good excuse to be outdoors.

In the early 90's, I UN-lucked into a claims adjuster job right out of college.  I enjoyed it at first, and then began to feel guilty because of all the people I was forced to take advantage of.  I learned from defense lawyers how to take recorded statements and "get the goods" on the people that were hurt and was taught how to take advantage of the weaknesses in their case.  I was also taught how to get information about their prior medical treatment and how to use that against them.. One day, I settled a case for the insurance company for less than her medical bills.  She called 4 days later asking for more money to pay medical bills.  I told her I could not.  She cried.  That call changed my life.  I vowed to do the opposite of what I did then, and work for people, not soul-less insurnace companies.. I love slaying the insurance companies.  I strive to be the very best trial lawyer that I can ever be, and it all starts with trying my best to be a good person, and bringing hope to all of the people I serve.  I now have over 4000 former clients that I call friends.   They send me countless great referrals and I am blessed that I do not have to spend $80,000 per month to beg clients to call me.  I take the cases that I want to take, with good, deserving, honest and positive minded thinking clients.. It is all about family.  I have a passion for my work, but it is all for them that I do my job, and do it well.. With 4 children, we are always on the go.   They say life is what you do while you are making plans.  My life is fulfilled, and I am so grateful and thankful.. I also have a passion for coaching football.  I played briefly in college until I was hurt and enjoy sharing what all I have learned with young men, watching them succeed and believe in themselves, and hopefully teaching them a little bit about life along the way.. I enjoy playing guitar and singing, along with my wife who has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard in my life.  I am thankful for her.. In my 24 years of practicing law, I have been fortunate to be able to focus on the areas of the law that interest me the most. My practice has, in part, focused on the representation of children. That representation is sometimes tied to delinquent charges incurred by the child or as a guardian ad litem for children who are involved in dependency and neglect proceedings. This experience has also given me great insight when representing Parents, Grandparents and other family members who are concerned for the welfare of their children.. My love and unique approach to this area of the law is what influenced me to become certified as a Specialist in Child Welfare Law. I have been awarded that Certification by the National Association of the Council for Children. After obtaining that, I began representing children and parents within the school system who were in need of Independent Education Plans (IEP’s) or 504 plans. My years of experience as a litigator, in the Juvenile Court, and relationships within the school system, allow me to work with the family and the school system to obtain the educational results necessary for the child.. My other two main areas of practice are representing businesses and representing clients who have been injured either in an automobile accident, slip and fall or work related incident. I have been practicing in both these areas of the law since 1994, so I have extensive experience in business formation, employment law, and helping those who have been wrongfully injured.. In my law practice, I am calm, responsive and firm. My client’s appreciate the frankness with which I speak. I always advise my clients of the law and my honest analysis of their situation, while at the same time respecting their wishes and their ultimate decision.. I grew up in Key Largo, Florida, which led to my interests in scuba diving, boating, and anything related to water sports. I received my Psychology degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. I then received my law degree from Nova Southeastern School of Law in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 1994. I am a member of Brentwood United Methodist Church, an active board member of the Highland Park Homeowners Association, a Daisy Troop leader, and actively volunteer at my children’s school.. I am most proud of my marriage to my husband, John, and our two children, my favorite son, Taylor, and my favorite daughter, Bella.

Having begun my legal career representing mega-inurance companies, I quickly realized many of these companies cared little about people, even if those people had suffered catastrophic, life-altering losses. That realization did not sit well with me. Things were made worse when an insurance company wanted me to find a way to avoid paying a mother for the loss of her unborn baby, when the loss of life was the company's insured's fault. Not paying the claim might save the company a few cents on their annual report to shareholders, but would prolong and exacerbate human suffering.. So, I decided to represent ordinary people instead of large companies. The decision has resulted in me having life-long friendships with those whom I represented. I hope that I have brought positive change to the lives of those clients and that we, together, have and will continue to effect positive change, making the world a safer and more livable place.
