Practicing law has been a long-term goal for me ever since participating in a mock trial exercise in middle school. With that goal in mind, I pursued a degree in political science at Grand Valley State University with the intent of going to law school immediately following my undergraduate studies. I graduated cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law and joined the team at Kraayeveld Law.. I have always had a passion for working with kids. Throughout my time in college and law school, I worked as a high school marching band instructor and as a recreational gymnastics coach. One of my proudest achievements was founding and directing a competitive indoor percussion organization for my students to participate in at a local high school. I formed relationships with each of my students and this allowed me to gain insights into teenagers’ struggles and victories. This experience provides me with a greater understanding of young people’s struggles when the parents divorce. I utilizes my passion for helping kids as a family law attorney by working hard to ensure a positive outcome for children as families navigate divorce and custody proceedings.. As a Grand Rapids native, I strive to make a difference in the community by helping families navigate the legal process during a challenging time in their lives. I have a twin brother and value spending time with my large family. In the summer, I spend my spare time outside with my wife, Michelle and our dog, Zoey. In the winter, you can find me on the ski slopes when I am not in the office.

Kelsey grew up in Traverse City, Michigan where she fell in love with Lake Michigan and all the beauty and activities that West Michigan has to offer. Kelsey then spent the next six years at Michigan State University pursuing her childhood dream of becoming an attorney. Having earned both her bachelor’s and law degrees from Michigan State, Kelsey is and always will be a huge Spartan football and basketball fan. Go Green!. During law school, Kelsey worked on perfecting her legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills, receiving Jurisprudence Achievement Awards for earning the highest grade in her Advocacy and Research, Writing & Analysis classes. Kelsey also led her moot court team as the team captain to a first-place victory over 28 teams at the William E. McGee National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition. Kelsey's desire for winning and achieving excellent results was evident then and remains evident in her work!. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from law school, Kelsey pursued a career as a Research Attorney at the Michigan Court of Appeals where she further honed her excellent writing skills and her knowledge of Michigan law. During her time at the Court of Appeals, Kelsey decided that she wanted to work with families to help them with their family law problems, and she joined the Kraayeveld Law team. Kelsey’s calm and steadfast guidance has helped her clients to reach excellent results.. On a personal level, Kelsey is the proud owner of a sweet Corgi puppy named Winnie. In her free time, Kelsey loves to hike, spend time on the water, and explore the great outdoors.

Jeff is a lifelong Grand Rapids resident. He attended Calvin College, where he majored in Political Science with an emphasis in Public Administration. Jeff went on to attend Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Prior to finishing law school, Jeff interned with the City of Grand Rapids Department of Law, clerked for the 17th Circuit Court Family Division, and worked as a research and writing clerk for a local law firm.. After law school, Jeff opened and ran his own successful law practice for over six years, focusing on civil litigation, family law, and criminal defense. Jeff has extensive experience in most Michigan courts, and has drafted briefs for the Michigan Court of Appeals, Michigan Supreme Court, and the United States Supreme Court.

I know that each family dynamic is unique, so I work side-by- side with clients to help them navigate their their individual family law, probate, or estate settlement needs.. As for my qualifications, I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Michigan University where I double majored in both Public Law and Journalism. I went on to get a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School where I was a Dean's List student with an academic scholarship award, a member of the school's Access to Justice Clinic, and a founding board member of the student chapter of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan. Upon passing the bar, I set out on my own, opening a practice serving clients estate planning, family law, and real estate law needs. As an only child I developed an ability to keep myself entertained. I’d put on theater, music, and dance shows in my backyard where neighbors came to enjoy the show; at least until the batteries in my beloved “boombox” would lose their charge. My love for theater and public speaking has served me well as an attorney as I advocate for my clients in court.. After completing my undergraduate degree in one of my two loves, music, I went on to attend WMU Thomas M. Cooley Law School and graduated magna cum laude to practice my second love, law. Daniel B. Hess, JR. was raised in Grand Rapids, MI. Daniel went on to attend Michigan State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 1992. Daniel then attended California Western School of Law, where he graduated in 1995..
