I'm not your typical suit! I pride myself on not being able to fit into a box. One thing I can say for sure about myself is that I am motivated. Whatever challenges I meet, I face with a fierce desire to overcome them. I became an attorney for several reasons. Other than enjoying the advocating aspect of my job, I love the fact that with this job comes a multitude of resources available to me. I have so many tools and resources at my finger tips to help either myself or those that come to me in almost any way. If it is not an area that I personally practice, I have a large pool of attorneys that I work closely with and that support me and all of my clients. I pass referrals and connect people with each other with every chance that I get. for the betterment of my clients It makes me happy to help, even if that help serves no benefit to me. I LIKE being able to put people in touch with those that can help if I can't and I love being able to point people in the right direction. Our society is so full of crazy and archaic rules and issues. Being able to assist someone find the way is invaluable.. On a personal note, about me, I am zealous and determined. With the concern of possibly giving away too much information about myself, but with the hope of giving you a better understanding of my nature, I will admit that I was not a traditional student. I did not grow up in a house with a white picket fence, la-da-da. I was raised in a family who struggled endlessly to make ends-meat and my parents were the hardest workers I've known. Their example helped turn me into the hard working person I am today with goals and aspirations. Each time I meet a goal, I set another and continue to move forward. At the age of 16, I was an emancipated minor and lived without my parents. I was also a teen mother, who remained in her regular school, and graduated with my class on time, with grades near the top of my class. I immediately went on to college, then undergrad, then grad school. I did not stop. Nothing would stop me. I take this part of my personaility and use it in my lawyering. I DESIRE to help, I DESIRE to make a difference. I want to and will do all that I can for my clients. It is my deepest desire to find a way to beat every challenge I am faced with! I like me and I hope you will to! :)

I was born and raised in the Eastown area of Grand Rapids, Michigan, where from a very young age my parents instilled in me the importance and desire of helping other people. As an attorney, I am able to wake up every day knowing that I can fulfill that characteristic. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in English, with an emphasis on Language & Literature and a minor in Writing, from Grand Valley State University. I then graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. While in law school, I was the Editor-in-Chief of the Law Journal, a Senior Associate Editor for Law Review, and a teacher’s assistant for Scholarly Writing. My practice areas include, but are not limited to, criminal defense, auto accidents, civil litigation, family law, contracts, personal injury, landlord/tenant law, estate planning, and appellate practice. I also volunteer through Cooley’s Access to Justice clinic helping indigent client’s receive expungements so that they may better their lives going forward into the future. When not working, I enjoy running, crossfit, backpacking, hiking, snowboarding, mountain climbing, camping, kayaking, reading, live music, and spending time with my family.

I spent a decade guiding clients through their personal injury traumas. With more than a decade of litigation experience, I’ve achieved tens of millions of dollars in recoveries for clients who have sustained personal injuries. I devote my legal practice to giving a voice to individuals and families who suffer personal injuries. I believe that in litigation, a successful attorney must not only litigate on behalf of the injured, but also must act as a counselor, friend and most importantly, a guide throughout the legal process. Give me a call. Let’s chat.

I love helping small business owners and entrepreneurs build and grow their businesses by identifying, protecting and leveraging their intellectual property. I also help businesses with legal issues and contracts involving vendors, employees, and independent contractors.. It's tempting to DIY every aspect of your business, but doing so can actually hold you back by taking you away from what you're really good at (growing your business) and spending countless hours researching new areas. Partnering with the right team of professionals (including legal) can help you supercharge your business in a fraction of the time and might even improve your sleep when you don't have to worry if your business is operating legally and efficiently (results may vary!). If you're interested in learning more about how working with a lawyer who understands your business and your goals can help, I'd love to hear from you.. Thanks,. Kevin

It is my goal to provide each client with individual attention because each client and each case is different, and I enjoy the personal interaction with a client and working towards successful completion of each case to the benefit of each family.. I have been practicing criminal law for the past 24 years. I graduated from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1987. Prior to going to law school I recieved my undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from the university of New Haven. Since coming to Grand Rapids, my practice has been mainly criminal defense with some family law and personal injurie law to keep thngs interesting.. The reason I chose these areas of the law is that I love being in court and arguing. I have always enjoyed that part of my job the most, representing clients is what I love.. If you find yourself in need of a criminal defense attorney, I would be honored to represent you. Just remember what I always say .... "TALK TO ME BEFORE YOU TALK TO THE POLICE"
I have a passion for helping families through difficult times. Prior to my legal career, I worked with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. I was able to gain the compassion and knowledge to help families navigate through a complex system in times of need. Now, I guide clients through a different, yet still complex system - family court.. While working for MDHHS, I was stationed in an elementary school. The families there became “my families” and I took great pride in the simple task of greeting the students at the door every morning with a big smile and a high-five. I believe it is imperative that every child and family I work with knows their worth.. I am born and raised in the Grand Rapids area. As an only child I developed an ability to keep myself entertained. I’d put on theater, music, and dance shows in my backyard where neighbors came to enjoy the show; at least until the batteries in my beloved “boombox” would lose their charge. My love for theater and public speaking has served me well as an attorney as I advocate for my clients in court.. After completing my undergraduate degree in one of my two loves, music, I went on to attend WMU Thomas M. Cooley Law School and graduated magna cum laude to practice my second love, law. My first goal was to find a place where I could work with colleagues who would share my love for parents and children in need and where the team would value a superior knowledge of Michigan law. I found that right away with the Kraayeveld Law team. Here, the attorneys work as a team to passionately represent clients at all stages of divorce and custody litigation.. In my free time, I enjoy spending family time with my husband and our two daughters, and my English Bulldog – Sir Howard the Magnifico – affectionately known as “Howie.”
I have 25+ years experience in estate planning and related/overlapping areas of law including wills & trusts, advanced estate/gift tax planning, asset protection, farm/business succession planning, charitable gift planning and post-death estate and trust administration. I have an additional law degree (Ll.M. or Masters of Law) in taxation and with that have devoted my entire career to estate planning for high net worth situations (as well as more routine/basic situations). I usually do not charge for a preliminary consultation so you can decide whether you would like to work with me "without the meter running".
I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and graduated from Calvin College in 1996. I received my law degree from Wayne State University Law School in 1999. I am certified in the areas of probate and estate planning (Institute of Continuing Legal Education and the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan). I have a heart for those less fortunate which has led me to become a very active participant in the Legal Aid Program of Western Michigan where I am appointed as a pro bono attorney in cases. I am the chair of the finance committee at my church, possibly for life, and my wife and I are actively involved in the leadership at our church.. I have four children and love family events. Cooley Law Review and Chairman of the Mock Trial Board, Grand Rapids Campus. Prior to joining Springstead Bartish Borgula & Lynch PLLC as an associate attorney, I used my education and experiences from law school at the Ottawa County Office of the Public Defender. During that time, I focused on alcohol related offenses, drug offenses, assaults, and violent crimes and was able to gain valuable experience.
