Leonard Stamm wrote the book on Maryland DUI Law.  He has been a practicing drunk driving, DUI, DWI, and criminal defense lawyer in the District, Circuit, and appellate courts of Maryland since 1984.  Since 1991, after the death of his partner, Alan J. Stamm's philosophy in drunk driving (DUI/DWI) defense is that unless the State is offering a plea that is significantly better than going to trial and losing, there is no good reason to plead guilty and not go to trial.  In drunk driving cases, unlike many other charges in state court, more often then not there is very little if any benefit to pleading guilty.  As a result he prepares every DUI/DWI case for trial.  This is different from the vast majority of other lawyers who will assume they cannot win your case and plead you guilty.
