As a lawyer, my greatest task is to provide superior advocacy to my clients.  For my criminal defense clients, my goal is to viciously attack each element of the State's case, and to identify and exploit each and every constitutional violation perpetrated by law enforcement.  The State of Florida has the burden of proving each and every element of the crime, and I make sure that each of my clients is in fact innocent until proven guilty.  For my injury clients, treatment and medical attention take priority over all else.  Once they are receiving the proper medical care, and on the right road to recovery, then I make sure that whoever is responsible for their injury is held so.  Unfortunately, accident victims are not always able to achieve 100 percent physical recovery after an accident.  In the State of Florida, we seek to compensate accident victims for their injuries, and when possible, we aggressively pursue the maximum compensation for our clients' injuries, and we don't rest until that maximum recovery is obtained.. In 2012, Anna-Maria earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude from St. Thomas University School of Law where she graduated in the top 10% of her graduating class.. Prior to joining attorney Mark Seff as an associate attorney, Anna-Maria served as a certified legal intern for the Broward County Office of the Public Defender, where she worked in the felony division.  While working at the Broward PDs office, Anna-Maria participated in daily arraignments, numerous plea negotiations, and pre-trial motion litigation.. Recently, Anna-Maria completed her training as a Guardian ad Litem. After graduating from the Marshall-Wythe School of law at the College of William & Mary, I clerked for the Honorable Pamela B. Minzner in New Mexico. I then entered private practice in Florida in 1992 and have litigated primarily in state courts, including appeals.  I have been a certified mediator since 1997 and am now certified in circuit civil, appellate, family and county court mediation.   I am the Vice President of the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators, and edited their newsletter, The Caucus.. I am also a qualified arbitrator for state court matters.  I am a FINRA arbitrator and chair-qualified and have arbitrated hundreds of cases, mainly as chairperson.  I am also a Special Magistrate for the Broward County Value Adjustment Board.  I also serve as an arbitrator for the American Health Law Association.. A graduate of Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Center, Melinda received her Juris Doctorate with honors, at the top of her the course of her law school studies, Melinda worked to represent low-income clients in family law matters as a certified legal intern with the Florida Supreme Court. It was in this role that Melinda realized her passion for helping others through her extensive knowledge of the law, and where she established a commitment to making a difference in the lives of others throughout the course of her career.. Her drive for success didn’t start there. Growing up the daughter in an Italian family with a real estate business of their own in Montreal, Melinda had a first-hand look into what being an entrepreneur really meant. It was these learning lessons that proved invaluable to Melinda’s future, and solidified her desire to succeed. Her initial leap into the world of law was driven by the notion of receiving a law degree to be able to help with her family’s Real Estate business – one that filled her with passion and purpose.
