Attorney Sarah Bennett. Practice Area Breakdown:80% Family Law - separation, divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, equitable distribution10% Traffic matters - traffic citations, DWI / DUI, DMV matters10% Criminal Defense. I have lived in Huntersville since 1991, when my family moved to North Carolina from the Richmond, Virginia area. In 2004, I graduated from North Mecklenburg High School, where I was a student in the International Baccalaureate program. Upon graduation, I attended college at North Carolina State University, where I studied Cultural Anthropology and Spanish. Determined to become an attorney, I entered the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill straight out of undergrad and received my J.D. in 2011.. While in law school, I discovered my passion for in-court advocacy, particularly in the fields of family and criminal law. I completed internships with the Mecklenburg and Wake County Public Defender’s Offices and worked for a summer with a general practice firm in Charlotte. In addition, I was a staff member of the First Amendment Law Review, vice-president of the American Constitution Society, and I completed over 100 hours of pro bono work, including projects with the University of North Carolina’s Divorce Clinic, Legal Services of Southern Piedmont, North Carolina Prisoner Legal Services, the University of North Carolina Center for Civil Rights, and the North Carolina Center on Actual Innocence.. Before joining Adkins Law, I was an associate attorney at another Charlotte-area firm where I represented criminal and domestic clients in state and federal cases throughout western North Carolina. I am admitted to practice both at the state level in North Carolina and federally in the Western District of North Carolina and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. My background in criminal and white collar defense has given me the keen ability to analyze large and complex fact patterns while appropriately and compassionately guiding my domestic and criminal clients through the court system.. With respect to my clients, I am a zealous advocate and a determined litigator. Although attorneys are prohibited from offering guarantees of any particular result, I can guarantee that I will professionally, compassionately, and tirelessly work with my clients from the beginning of each case through its resolution.. I live in Huntersville with my Newfoundland dog, Maximus. In my free time, I enjoy cheering for the NC State Wolfpack and the Carolina Panthers, spending time with my family, painting, and traveling both domestically and abroad.
