I am a non-traditional attorney and mediator. I have worked inside the types of entities I support best: arts, nonprofit, educational, governmental and entrepreneurial organizations. My practice focuses on commercial and civil litigation, contract formation and negotiation, employment law and appeals. I represent visual artists, filmmakers, musicians, social impact businesses and entrepreneurs. I approach conflict negotiation with the needs of the client and context in mind, while maintaining an overall view of the situation. In litigation, I succeed because I truly enjoy puzzling through the logic and structure of the jurisprudence to develop fresh arguments that attain winning outcomes for my clients. I am equally adept at developing creative negotiated solutions for a client, diligently obtaining discovery to support summary judgment, and aggressively seeking judgment at trial. I excel at evaluating and negotiating contracts that protect my clients and assuring that they understand the documents they sign.In every organization I lead--firms or volunteer groups--I guide strategic vision and build systems to support that vision. I help the leadership teams I join build strong collaborative relationships, surface members’ top strengths, and grow individually and together to propel our organizations forward.Independently, I devote my time to developing local and regional arts communities. I served as a Director and President of Apogaea, Inc., a local 501(c)(3) arts organization associated with Burning Man. I was a founding member of The Phoenix Asylum, a Boulder arts collective. I currently serve as Burning Man’s Boulder Regional Contact and as a Board Member of the Boulder Fringe Festival. I was most recently named as the Colorado Attorneys for the Arts’ Volunteer Lawyer of the Year.
