Howdy, I'm Megan. I practice statewide in Michigan and focus my practice on student and educator rights with an interest in special education and Title IX cases. Before joining Abdnour Weiker, I worked as a public defender in Colorado and Alaska. During my 4.5 years as a public defender I gained experience in criminal, civil, child in need of aid and guardianship law. My work as a child in need of aid attorney imbued me with a passion for working with children in systems where they are often overlooked and disregarded. My focus in education law is to be a strong voice for those who are unheard in Michigan’s education system.. Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, I am a proud Michigander. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Individualized Study with a Concentration in Feminist Theory from New York University in 2016 and earned a Juris Doctorate from Vanderbilt University in 2019. After spending time practicing law in Colorado and Alaska, I have returned home to Michigan for good.. Outside of practicing law, I enjoy writing, painting, playing guitar and going to the gym. I am the proud owner of my dogs, Tonks and Totoro, and my cat, Catticus Finch. Hey, I'm Dustyn. I enjoy helping people get through some of the toughest times in their lives, and I believe, to paraphrase Bryan Stevenson, that each of us is more than the worst thing we've done. If you're wrongly accused, I want to make the justice system work for you: I want you to be vindicated and have your name cleared of wrongdoing. If you've made a mistake, that's okay; let's work through it and not have it define the rest of your life. If you have a mental-health or substance-abuse issue, let's address that and worry about the legal stuff later. Beyond what I do for a living, I'm a Christian (but not the judgy sort), husband to Stephanie, dad to Lily (and the dogs, Leo and Archie), a fan of all things Detroit sports (truly, this is the Lions' year), a fanboy of the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings franchises, a binger of quality television, a reader of good books (but not enough of them), and an occasional writer.
