I have been a practicing attorney in Kentucky for over 37 years, most of which was as a prosecutor in the County Attorney's office.  My experience is in the area of criminal law and family law as a prosecutor, so that is also what I practice as a private attorney.. My goal is to help you resolve your case/situation.  Attendant to this goal is my desire to help you not repeat behaviors that have caused some trouble in the past.. I have a cat named Bubba, and I love to do needlework of various kinds.  I have taught lots of people how to knit, crochet, cross-stitch and needlepoint, and find much enjoyment in doing so.  I also work crossword and sudoku puzzles, and play the piano.  Most of all I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

I grew up in Western Kentucky where I was very close to my grandmother, who died with Alzheimer’s the day before I entered law school.  Having grown up knowing and loving Mamaw and other seniors, I was disheartened as I saw how elderly individuals are often discounted by society.  I strive to treat my clients as I would want Mamaw to be treated.

I grew up in Louisville and graduated from Ballard High School, went to UK for my undergraduate degree in Finance, and attended Chase College of Law in Northern Kentucky. I am licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in Kentucky as well as state courts in Indiana. I am passionate about helping my clients achieve their goals and am dedicated to their success, no matter their needs.

I first became interested in becoming a lawyer after reading books about noted trial lawyers such as Gerry Spence, Race Horse Haynes and Melvin Belli.  I was inspired by their stories to go to law school even though I had already graduated from college and owned a successful business.  I sold my business, was admitted to law school and dedicated myself to learning everything I could about being a courtroom lawyer.. I learned that trying a case well is a skill that can’t be learned just from books.  It takes a  lot of experience in a courtroom to really develop the ability.. I have now been a trial lawyer for over 27 years.  My first jury trial took place in 1987-an acquittal on a DUI case.  Since that time, I have tried many cases in both State and Federal Courts ranging from murder and drug trafficking down to accusations of stealing a pack of gum from Krogers.  Most cases settle without the need for a trial but I believe my clients receive more favorable offers of settlement because Prosecutors know that if an offer is not fair, I will not hesitate to go to trial and that I have the skills and experience to obtain a favorable outcome.

I began my career as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney here in Louisville, Kentucky, handling some of the state's largest cases. While there, I was a member of the economic crime unit, the FAST team, general trial unit and served as the welfare fraud liaison. The vast trial experience I acquired has made me very capable of zeaously representing each and every one of my clients in areas of personal injury and criminal defense.

I am a "small town girl" who grew up in a blue-collar family in Bardstown, Nelson County, Kentucky. I graduated from Bardstown High School in 1990 then moved to Louisville to obtain my undergraduate degree from Bellarmine University (formerly Bellarmine College). Although I always considered the practice of law as a possible career choice, I learned some very practical skills from my course work at Bellarmine. I was proud to be a part of Bellarmine's nationally recognized Mock Trial team while a student there.
