I have recovered millions of dollars for injury victims and their families.  Call now for a free consultation.  Don't settle for less.  My professional career and personal life has focused on defending and fighting for those in need of an advocate.  I grew up in Milwaukee Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison where I met my law partner Chad Lanning.  We share a passion for upholding and pursuing justice.  While a full time student at UW-Madison, I volunteered in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Meriter Hospital.  Also, while attending Madison and working in the WI State Senate, I worked on Senator Feingold’s successful bid for the United States Senate.  While working in Washington, DC I fell in love with the law and learned how laws could impact individuals’ lives. While attending Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri I interned at the Wisconsin State Public Defenders Office, a Milwaukee labor law firm, and the Missouri Commission on Human Rights.  At graduation I was the recipient of the Cater-Tedrow Memorial Award which is given to one student who exemplifies the aims of all those entering the profession of law.    Upon graduation, I entered the General Counsel’s Office of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters in Washington DC and then was then named the first Legal Scholar in the history of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.  My desire to litigate cases and battle for individuals brought him into the specialty of representing children who had been poisoned by lead.  I continued to represent national and international unions.  I represented the Major League Umpires, teachers unions, firefighters, government employees and many others.I have obtained millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for workers and injured individuals.  I only represent employees and victims.  I never represent insurance companies.. In addition to my pro bono legal work I have been deeply involved in the community.  He has coached little league for numerous years, served on charitable boards, volunteers in public schools, and was a Big Brother and Big Sisters for over 16 years.

I have a strong belief the role of a family lawyer is to guide my clients through a process that is often complicated and stressful. Through my years of practice I have found the number one driving force behind the disputes is fear. Fear of the unknown has an incredibly powerful influence on both the parties. I feel it is important to advocate strongly on behalf of my clients, but part of that advocacy is a duty to redefine the family unit without destroying it. No two cases are ever the same and as such I carefully evaluate each and every individual's goals. I take an educational approach because I respect my client's ability to partake in the process. While I do my best to see whether we can resolve the issues without taking them before a Judge, I understand there are some issues which require judicial determination.. In the event one of my cases proceeds to the point of trial I make absolutely certain the case and my client are fully prepared. I take a realistic and straight forward approach to the trial. In my opinion there are very few cases which require judicial intervention if an attorney genuinely understands the laws and is familiar with the particular Judge assigned to the case. However, this does not necessarily translate into the opponent taking a realistic stance on the issues and this is an unfortunate obstacle to resolution without a trial.. Whenever I am consulted for a legal problem I always encourage my potential clients to interview more than one attorney. Why? Because you should trust who you hire; you must feel confident in communicating the good and the bad facts of your position; and you must feel confident with their knowledge and ability to competently assist you. If your situation was not important, you would not be seeking legal counsel - make sure the person you hire respects this above all else or you are in for disappointment.

I don't take every case.  I try to take cases where there is evidence of innocence and/or a political reason that someone is being picked on by the Government.  I focus all of my time and energy on criminal defense.  I am influenced by being a graduate of Gerry Spence's highly prestigious Trial Lawyers College.  At this school in Wyoming I learned how to speak the truth to succeed for clients.  In addition to my law degree from UW Madison, I have two masters degrees: in counseling and political studies.  In law school I won the celebrated Sigman award for "scholarship, character, and contribution to the community."  I am proud of having an outstanding trial record and being known for my caring attitude towards clients.. I charge a flat fee for all of my services.  I do this so that you and I can both focus on what needs to be done to win your case without worrying about the hours involved.  When appropriate, I actually look forward to going to trial.  Being charged with a crime can be a frightening and humiliating experience, but I know that every person has done amazing things in their life and has the potential to do even better.  I take very seriously my opportunity to help you so that you can make the most of your life..
