I've been a lawyer for over 30 years.  I've represented individuals and business as well as some of America's largest insurance companies. I spent twelve years in pastoral ministry before going to law school.  During my time in ministry, I learned that lawyers were necessary players in solving people's problems, especially in the area of personal injury.  I find it very rewarding to represent injured individuals and families through motion and appellate work.

I practice in the areas of personal injury, consumer protection, and general litigation. After law school, I clerked for the Honorable David L. Piper in the Civil Division of Hennepin County District Court. As a law clerk, I handled hundreds of civil cases from inception to resolution. I have a strong understanding of Minnesota courts and procedure.. I grew up in Michigan and earned my B.A. from the University of Michigan with a double major in Philosophy and Classics. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2020. There, he fought for clients as part of the Consumer Protection Clinic and represented clients in Fair Credit Reporting Act cases.. I live in St. Paul with my partner Julie and our rescue dog BeeBee. I enjoy camping, trail running, cycling, and exploring the outdoors.. I am licensed to practice in Minnesota and is a member of the Hennepin County Bar Association and the Minnesota State Bar Association. I am also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.

I have practiced exclusively in the personal injury/workers compensation areas my whole career.  I know my way around the judicial system and particularly the courtroom. I have tried numerous cases to juries and have had great success.  I litigate No-Fault claims, Workers Compensation claims and Social Security claims.  My motto is to work hard to move my client's case along promptly and to always talk to my clients along the way.  I try to be very direct and that helps keep my clients informed as to what is going on in their case.  I answer my phone when people call with questions or want to discuss their case.  I am able to get great results for my clients.

I have been working in law firms since 2005 and have worked in fields such as workers' compensation, family law, civil defense litigation, and personal injury. I majored in legal studies while also obtaining my paralegal certificate in undergrad which allowed me to start working in the legal field during college. Being a paralegal for many years gave me a solid foundation of how to work a case from start to finish and the ability to manage all aspects of a case. It also gave me perspective on how to anticipate the needs of an attorney handling a case and also how to manage and supervise other support staff.

I grew up in a family where my father came from a very poor family of 9 children and my mother grew up in a family of 5 children.  Both of them grew up in Crosby Ironton, Minnesota.  Dad was so poor that the brothers had to loan their shoes and clothes to the other siblings in order to go to school.  Dad saw many of the fathers of his school friends lose their lives when the mines they were working in collapsed.  From that point on, he became an active advocate for the underdog and never stopped.  He taught us kids to be compassionate and advocate for the families that had bad luck or less opportunities because they were poor.  I had no choice but be inspired to advocate for others.. When I graduated from the U of M, women were encouraged to choose teaching, nursing and or secretarial work.  I graduated from the College of Education, but longed to be a lawyer that at that time was not an acceptable choice for a woman.  After the birth of my third child, women were enrolling in law school in waves.  I was thrilled to join the wave and started my first year at Hamline Law School when my youngest, was 6 months old.. I graduated from law school in 1980 and after clerking in Bankruptcy Court and working in Real Estate, I started my own law firm in 1993 practicing in the area of personal injury.  I have loved my life as a lawyer. I have enjoyed working with a group of terrific co-workers who have become wonderful friends.  My clients will testify, that I fight very hard for them and always try to obtain the best result possible. I am most fortunate to have these opportunities.
