Our office remains open and accepting new clients. We offer consultations via Zoom, FaceTime or telephone calls.. I am one of a handful of Certified Family Law Specialists in the Stanislaus and San Joaquin area. Family law is my favorite area of the law as I greatly enjoy the ability to help people navigate through the court process. I know that I go to court every day but that my clients don't. I understand that this process can be overwhelming and often, emotionally driven. My job is to be certain that my clients understand best case scenarios and worst case scenarios so that they can make smart decisions that will positively benefit them in the long-run. I am naturally honest, sometimes brutally honest. I am a small-business owner, a wife, a mom and part of a blended family. I love technology and I use it to maintain the best level of communication with my clients possible. My clients are almost entirely referral based due to my reputation in this area as a strong advocate with a very specialized knowledge of family law and our local judges.
No one in Stanislaus County has more experience, or had more success as criminal defense attorney. I've represented hundreds of individuals charged with every kind of criminal defense. I’ve defended each one aggressively, passionately, knowledgeably, and with compassion. I've had over a hundred jury trials, and won or hung most. I’ve represented fourteen clients facing the death penalty and do not have a single client on death row. I’ve challenged and changed California law. (Madrid v. Municipal Court, People v. Dustin). Now I’d like the opportunity to help you.
My wife and I started our family when we were very young, having my first child at age 19. While working full time and raising a family I attended college and law school. I was the underdog and was able to persevere. I studied hard and passed the California Bar on the first attempt. Many do pass on their first attempt – but not while raising children and working full time.. My point is that I take my life skills and use them in my law practice. I fight for every client like I was fighting for myself. My life experience puts me in a position to relate to jurors and tell your side of the story to them.. There is no gimmicks here – just a dedicated fighter not afraid of the jury or opposing counsel.

Insurance won't pay? We'll see about that!!!. I have worked for insurance companies in the past and now I work for you. Insurance companies have lawyers working for them and so should you.. At Imburg & Vanisko, you don't pay until we win. You should consult with an attorney even if the insurance company is offering you money. An experienced lawyer can analyze your case and help you recover much more than the insurance company's offer.. I recently handled a case for a client whose leg was broken when he was hit by a fork lift. The insurance company offered to pay him $70,000. After the client hired us, we retained expert witnesses, negotiated with the insurance company and convinced them to pay $900,000!. A few years ago, I had a client who injured her knee when she slipped and fell on the wet floor at a restaurant. The insurance company told me that they would never pay more than $25,000; so I took the case to trial and obtained a jury verdict of $253,000!. Last month I was hired by a client who was blamed for causing a crash by both the CHP and his own insurance company. I personally reinvestigated the crash and conviced the insurance company to settle with the client for just over $100,000.. Your call to us is free and we charge you nothing until we win. On the other hand, failing to call us for free hold could end up costing you thousands of dollars.
I have represented people accused of sleeping in bushes, people accused of killing multiple victims, and people accused of doing pretty much everything in between.. Many of my clients have been acquitted at trial, had their cases dismissed, or had their charges drastically reduced. Mostly because I have been able to use my considerable experience and skills to successfully counter the prosecution's case by challenging the sufficiency of the evidence, by exposing police misconduct, or by identifying procedural errors. And sometimes just because.. I am very good -- in fact I would like to say that I am the best, but I will never promise you that I will get your charges dismissed or that I will get you a not guilty verdict at trial. I will not even promise that "I will always fight for you" -- every case is different, and sometimes diplomacy and negotiation gets a better result than "fighting.". I will only ever make you one promise: If you have been accused of a criminal offense, I will do everything I possibly can to make sure that you are treated fairly.. Beware the lawyer who promises anything more.. (Please feel free to Google me. If you don't get too distracted by reports of my unusual hobbies or the details of certain notorious cases, you might come across one or two published articles that I have written on the subject of California's very harsh gang enhancement laws. Not only do clients accused of gang-related offenses seek me out because of my special knowledge and experience in that very difficult area of law, but other criminal defense lawyers frequently seek my assistance in complex gang cases. In other words; if it's a tough case, and especially if it's a gang case, I'm your man.)
I come to work everyday so that I can make a difference in someone's life. My passion is helping others. I provide criminal defense and DUI defense representation. I attended the University of California at Davis, where I first gained an interest in the law. Subsequently, I obtained a law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law.. I lived in the Modesto area for over 17 years, having commenced my legal career at the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office. After several years of gaining trial experience, I moved onto private practice, specializing in civil litigation with an emphasis in business, personal injury, and criminal defense.. Having been a partner in two law firms in Modesto, and successfully trying over 55 civil and criminal trials, I ventured out by forming the Sodhi Law Group, which provides me the ability to specialize in the area of law that allow me to continue to aggressively advocate for my clients, giving them the personal service and attention I feel is critical to the running of a successful law practice, where the client and their needs are first and foremost.. My wife and I belong to several charitable organizations, including the Center for Human Services, Community Hospice of Stanislaus County, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.. My team and I look forward to providing you the strong and aggressive advocacy you deserve while guiding you through the legal process and ultimately achieving success!
I am a partner in the Modesto Office of Borton Petrini, LLP. I practice family law emphasizing in child custody disputes, support matters, property division and divorce proceedings. I also represent in cases involving adoptions, guardianships and premarital agreements.. Further, I practice bankruptcy law and I'm admitted to practice before all the courts of the United States District Court of the Eastern District of California. I'm also a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.
I am a late arrival to the field of law. Following High School, I became employed as a baker while attempting to pursue a career in music. I was employed by Costco for over 20 years, and in that time, while keeping my love for music, I also entertained other hobbies. I received a black belt in Shudo-Kan karate from Master Ken Polite of Modesto, CA in 1990, a hobby I thoroughly enjoyed and one that helped me grow personally on many levels. I also became fascinated with guns and firearms related matters, such as ballistics and forensics, which has been helpful in the practice of criminal defense. Prior to attending law school I discovered a fascination with Astronomy through courses at Modesto Junior College with a truly wonderful professor, Dr. William Luebke. To simultaneously preserve a relationship with my wife of 27 years and maintain our family, provide for the household, and complete law school and ultimately pass the Bar exam, required hard work and persistence; these same traits drive me to do my best to become the most competent attorney I can, and to thereby better assist my clients.
