Before starting his law practice, he served as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and as a Vice President and Regional Trust Officer with Southern National Bank. He was admitted to the practice of law in South Carolina in 1979. He received a degree from Northwestern University Graduate School of Trusts in 1984. He is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and resides in Mt. Pleasant with his wife Kathy.
