While emphasizing bankruptcy and family law, we represent people
in varying matters. We provide legal services in a courteous,
confidential, friendly and professional manner in Tacoma, Olympia, Chehalis, Bremerton, and other cities throughout the Puget
Sound and the State of Washington.
The first step in successfully representing a person is attempting to step into their shoes and empathizing with their issue. My goal upon my first meeting with a client is that by the time they step out my door they feel they have been listened to, that their issue is now in competent hands, and that the stress they have been dealing with is alleviated. I strive to work cooperatively with my clients while we work together to obtain justice. I take my client's issues personally, and represent them as I would want to be represented.. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my wife, two kids, and two dogs. I volunteer as a youth sports coach and love playing guitar. Prior to law school I spent two years with the United States Peace Corps in Kazakhstan. The experience left me with a love of service and renewed respect for our system of law.
My focus practicing law is on satisfied clients. I build strong professional and personalized relationships from day one and getting a hold of me is never a problem.. Relying on experience from three different judicial chambers (federal and state, trial and appellate), experience from a prestigous firm that has won numerous cases in front of the United States Supreme Court, and mentorship from seasoned practitioners, I provide detailed legal services in a variety of practice areas:. I easily relate to and enjoy meeting clients from all walks in life. My family has run a small business for 50 years strong, and I am a former Alaskan fly fishing guide, a Sebiel Institute of Brewing graduate, and a former NCAA Division 1 soccer player and coach. I am committed to this community and actively engaged in it, not only as an attorney but also as a local soccer coach and outdoorsman, giving back to our youth while fishing on the side.
My experience in personal injury and insurance law allows me to provide excellent legal representation in the motor vehicle arena. As an avid bicyclist and advocate for bicycling infrastructure and safety, I have a special interest in bicycle injury cases, which is complemented by prior experience analyzing municipal law issues for local governments.
Laura Murphy began her career as a prosecutor in Pierce County and quickly transferred to the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney's Office in her home town, Olympia. Here, she has practiced criminal and family law both as a prosecutor and a defense attorney. This unique perspective provides Laura the ability to view all sides of an argument. She has found Family Law especially challenging because it requires a blend of sharp litigation skills and strong client advocacy. It became clear early on that her passion is well suited to this area of law.. Clients who are facing a criminal matter experience a similar set of emotions. They often do not know the consequences of a criminal conviction and need an advocate to guide them through the process.. In the courtroom, Laura is serious about winning. From case preparation, pretrial conferences, all the way to the actual trial, each matter is handled with professionalism. “Every case is unique and important. Litigation allows me the opportunity to be creative and think strategically.”. At the first consultation, Laura will begin to assess a case strategy to meet her client’s expectations. However, her ultimate goal is that the next step forward will not only be the best for the client, but the best for their families too. “The goal of my office and staff is that every client walks out feeling as though a weight has been lifted from their shoulders. Isn’t that what advocacy is all about?”
