I was born in Boston, Massachusetts but have resided in Oregon since 1970. My wife Julie and I have been married since 2002 and have four children. Ben, Kaitlyn, Audrey, and Andrew.. I received my undergraduate degree from Oregon State University and my Doctorate of Juris, “law degree” from the Northwestern School of Law, Lewis and Clark College. I started my professional career with the Intermountain Public Defenders Office in 2002 and opened my own practice in 2003 and have practiced as a solo practitioner ever since.. I am an active member in good standing with the Oregon State Bar, United States District Court for the State of Oregon, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Immigration Courts, as well as the Multnomah County Bar Association, and the Clackamas County Bar Association. I have represented clients in 18 of the 36 counties in Oregon plus Federal court.

Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Rhett L. Bernstein received his Juris Doctorate from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College with a specialized certificate in criminal law and procedure. During law school he clerked for the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office and Clackamas County Circuit Court Judge Ronald Thom. He prosecuted major felonies as a deputy district attorney in the Willamette Valley before founding his law firm in the Portland area in 2005. He developed his firm to offer specialties in criminal representation, estate planning and probate.  Rhett L. Bernstein has provided prosecutorial services to various municipalities, including the cities of West Linn, Lake Oswego, Oregon City, and Milwaukie.  He was elected as the judge of the Municipal Court for the City of West Linn in 2013.Under his management, his firm represents clients charged with the most serious of criminal charges, such as Aggravated Murder, Jessica’s Law sexual abuse allegations and those facing Measure 11 mandatory minimum sentences.
