Mr. Englert was also plaintiff's counsel in a $5.12 million settlement announced in October 2009 for the family of a 16-year-old boy who drowned after he was taken by a school supervisor on an unauthorized off-campus school swimming outing.. In July 2009, Englert, as lead trial counsel, won a $582,000 jury verdict for the family of a bicyclist who was struck and killed by a vehicle passing a double-parked car in Philadelphia.  A settlement had been reached earlier with the owner of the parked car.. Mr. Englert began his career as a trial lawyer at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was one of the founding members of the Penn Law Mock Trial Team, a student-run organization committed to providing interested students with a greater exposure to trial advocacy skills and the benefits of courtroom experience.  In 2009, he was appointed to the University of Pennsylvania Law School adjunct faculty as a Lecturer in Law to supervise and develop the mock trial program. Since then, the team has grown to more than 30 student members who compete annually in competitions across the country.. As a third-year law student, Mr. Englert was the director of The Unemployment Compensation Project, a student-run pro bono clinic with more than 20 members and as well as a legal research and writing instructor.. Mr. Englert has previously worked for the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Bureau of Organized Crime & Narcotics as well as for the United States Attorney's Office in Camden, New Jersey.. Mr. Englert is an avid motorcycle rider and competitive marksman.  He is an Endowment Member of the NRA as well as a member of the International Defensive Pistol Association, the Liberty Township Sportsman's Association, the Delaware County Field & Stream Association, and Targetmaster.
