I work as General Counsel for midsize construction company. We build luxury multi-family apartments and have been involved in some of the nicest complex's in the Valley, including Camden Properties, MT Builders and also Mark Taylor properties. As a construction attorney I deal with drafting and reviewing contracts and agreements. There is also a need for attention to detail when you are dealing with so many moving parts and other entities. I also have experience placing liens on properties and also knowledge of Federal Law and employment regulations.. I also protect the interests of my client and employees by making sure protocals are followed and the risk is minimal.
I was raised in Southern California and married Katherine, the love of my life in 1979. We have five children and eight grandchildren, and counting... We raised our family in Mesa Arizona where I have worked my entire career. I have been involved with everything from Little League to United Way to junior high musicals, where I played the trumpet in the pit.. I love what I do. I give people peace of mind, setting up a Plan so their family won't have to hassle with a probate case. I especially enjoy helping small business owners and licensed professionals separate their personal wealth from their potential liabilities.
I was born and raised in the Midwest and still have a strong sense of loyalty to that area of the country. I possess strong family values and place a lot of stock in forging long-lasting, personal relationships with my family, with friends, and with my past and current clients. These things are important to me, which is why I gravitated toward this line of work in the first place, and which is why I have experienced success in what I do. My passion is for helping families through a very difficult time and I know how important it is for everyone involved (especially the children) to get through the process as quickly, gracefully and respectfully as possible. I never shy away from a challenge so I have focused my practice on representing individuals involved in high-conflict, high-asset family law situations. I am extremely aggressive if I need to be, but at the same time, I understand that a swift and amicable resolution is often what is best for my clients.. When I am not working, I enjoy coaching, travelling, playing softball, and spending time with my beautiful and supportive wife Alex and my sons Dylan and Landon. I also love watching college footbal. O-H-.....
I was born and raised in Ohio, but do not miss the midwestern winters at all and thoroughly enjoy the weather and outdoor lifestyle that Phoenix offers. I have been involved in health care since law school where I gained valuable experience in the legal departments of two of the finest hospitals in the country: Johns Hopkins (Baltimore) and Rush (Chicago).
I strive to create a trusted and long-lasting relationship with every client I represent. My goal is to work harder and achieve better results than other attorneys could if given the same case and client. I pride myself on taking challenging matters including cases that most attorneys consider too complex or risky to handle. I am a trial attorney who has obtained six figure and seven figure verdicts in both state and federal court. Aside from being an attorney, I am a cancer survivor, triathlete, spartan-racer, author, husband, father and step-father. When I am not winning cases, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family or training for my next athletic challenge.
I specialize in civil litigation with an emphasis in insurance disputes and insurance subrogation. I have litigated product defect, contractor liability, personal injury, negligence, breach of contract and breach of warranty cases in Arizona and California.

I have practiced commercial/business litigation since graduating from BYU law school in 1976. Tried more than 100 jury trials. I love the courtroom. I prepare and trial cases electronically because it increases efficiency and lowers costs. All client documents are scanned and bates-labeled, so that complete chronologies can be prepared. A chronology is vital to understasnding the case and preparation. It, also, allows for designation of trial exhibits and preparation of exhibit lists using the computer rather than hand-sorting and hand-description of exhibits. Exhibits can be annotated electronical for effective trial work, and I use the computer equipment in the courtroom myself: there is no disconnect between the examination and getting the document on the screen for the witness, jury, and judge.. Computer images are used in depositions rather than paper exhibits because of the increased efficiency and the resulting lack of disconnect when depositions, which I always videotape, are played at trial. The talking head and the document can be displayed for the jury, and the bates number assures the jury that the same document marked and used at trial is the one about which the witness is testifying. The images allow a free-ranging deposition rather than one limited the stack of documents on the table.. We have the necessary computer programs to process native-file electronic documents (ESI or electronically stored information). Metadata is essential in many cases. We, also, have the right computer forensic help for imaging and use of client and adverse-party computers.. My longest jury trial lasted ten months, a securities fraud trial with more than 10,000 exhibits marked. It was eash to manage becuase of technology. My largest jury verdict resulted in a judgment of more than $60 million. I have traveled internationally for cases and, of course, all over the United States. Tried cases in many states.. I was an adjunct professor of law at ASU lawschool for two years teaching electronics in the courtroom.. I have done cases on a budget and cases where the amount at issue was such that there was no budget. My fees tend to be less than other lawyers because of the efficience of the electdronics used for prepartion, management, and trial. I, also, expect the client to help me know where to look for evidence in the field of discovery so I do not have to turn over rocks where there are no worms.. I have an economics degree, which helps in the sorts of cases I try. Cases that generally involve economic and accounting experts. It is easier to prepare an expert or cross the other side's expert if you have background in the subject area.. I have a commercial pilot's license with more than 4,000 hours of flight time, less than 80 hours of which is in single-engine aircraft. I know airplanes, the FARs, and all things aviation, so there is no or very little learning curve when the case is aviation related. I have represented pilots, FBOs, Part 135 operators, and Part 145 repair stations.. I am a trial lawyer. That means I want to try the case. My job is to get the case ready to try and try it, not ready to settle. I am at home in large-document cases involvintg complex legal issues. I prefer the courtroom to the office. Interviews, discovery, and everything pre-trial (office work) is to get me to the courtroom.
