Seth A. Before joining Summers Compton Wells, Seth worked at one of the largest law firms in St. Louis and served as in-house counsel for a commercial lender. He has represented secured and unsecured creditors and debtors in all aspects of the debtor-creditor relationship, including work outs, debt restructuring bankruptcy, litigation and receiverships. Seth has participated in over 100 arbitrations and counseled clients on arbitration clauses in commercial contracts.. Seth currently serves as a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Panel Trustee, a Chapter 12 Bankruptcy Panel Trustee and a Subchapter V Trustee for the Eastern District of Missouri as well as a panel arbitrator for United States Arbitration and Mediation. Seth has served as a Receiver, Special Master and as a Guardian Ad Litem in civil and domestic cases. Seth also volunteers for the St. Louis County Domestic Violence Court as a Special Prosecutor.. Seth has lectured on topics such as the intersection of Bankruptcy and Family Law, Adoption, Enforcement and Collection of Judgments, Revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code and Arbitration Clauses in Commercial Transactions and is the co-author of Chapter 4 of the Missouri Bar Bankruptcy Practice Deskbook.

Professionally, I enjoy serving as a guardian ad litem in both St. Louis City and St. Louis County.  I have presented seminars for the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis as well as the Missouri Bar.  I have more than thirty years experience as an adjunct professor at Webster University, where I am on the faculty of the Business School.  In my spare time, I enjoy my toddler granddaughter and our three dogs.  Life is good!

Paul Hales is a graduate of Columbia University Law School and is licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. He manages an international health privacy law consulting practice and is the author of The HIPAA E-Tool, Internet-based, easy to use compliance software that is fully aligned with all 180 HIPAA Audit protocols and has separate editions for health care providers, health plans, business associates and third party administrators. Before specializing exclusively on health privacy law he worked in private practice as a litigator and appellate lawyer on complex civil cases and also served as outside general counsel for business, healthcare and nonprofit organizations.

I was born in Iran and shortly thereafter my parents moved to Spain. I lived in Spain for several years and subsequently in the small country of Andorra, high in the Pyrenees mountains between France and Spain. My entire formative education was through the French educational system. While living in Spain and Andorra, I learned Spanish and Catalan, and would spend parts of my summers attending schools in England and Italy where I learned the respective languages. I was a competitive alpine ski racer and played varsity soccer and rugby until I moved to the United States in 1983. I attended the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) receiving my Bachelor Degree in Political Science. Before attending Law School, I worked at a large firm in Los Angeles for 4 years before attending St. Louis University School of Law. I have been practicing law in Missouri as a member of the Missouri Bar since 1997, and have practiced exclusively for the past 23 years representing clients in Criminal & Family Immigration, Deportation/Removal Defense, Criminal Defense of Foreign Nationals, and Federal Immigration Litigation. My law partner Kimberly Cofman, is also my wife, and we have two beautiful children.
