He attended McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois, on a debate and academic scholarship; was a nationally ranked competitive debater; and, graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree, having triple-majored in Philosophy, Speech Communication, and Political Science. He was honored upon his graduation as Illinois’ Speech and Theater Collegiate Student of the Year and presented with departmental honors in both Philosophy and Speech Communication.
