A good legal representation of all accused of crimes is vital for our system to work. When criminal charges are brought all the power of the state is aimed at the accused. Many of my clients have limited educations, are mentally ill, or have suffered abusive relationships. Our current priorities as a society result in putting these people in jail, rather than providing help.
