Scott received his law degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville (J.D., 1995) where he was a member of the Arkansas Law Review (1994 - 1995) and the school's Board of Advocates (1994 - 1995). He was admitted to the Arkansas Bar in 1995 and the Missouri Bar in 1996. He received his undergraduate degree from Southwest Missouri State University (B.S., 1992).. After graduating from law school, Scott practiced as a plaintiff's personal injury lawyer for nearly four years. He then joined Turner, Reid, Duncan, Loomer & Patton as an associate in 1999 and became a shareholder in 2004.. In 2004 he received the Missouri Bar's David J. Dixon award for Appellate Advocacy and is a member of the National Order of Barristers.  In 2014, he was recognized by Missouri Lawyer's Weekly as having obtained the third largest reported defense verdict in the state.. Mr. Bellm is an active member of the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers, having served on the organization’s Board of Directors from 2009-2017. He was additionally honored to serve as President of the organization from 2015-2016.. Scott was named by the Missouri Rising Stars list as one of the up-and-coming attorneys in Missouri (2008-2010) and thereafter has been consistently selected to the Missouri Super Lawyers list as one of the top attorneys in Missouri from 2011 to present. Mr. Bellm has also been named among America’s Top 100 Civil Defense Litigators every year from 2018 to present.. He is a Fellow of the Missouri Bar Foundation and is a member of the Missouri Bar, Arkansas Bar, Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association, Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers, and Defense Research Institute (Exceptional Performance Citation, 2016).. Scott currently focuses his practice on insurance defense and coverage, bad faith, product liability defense, medical malpractice defense and civil trial and appellate practice. He is licensed to practice in both Missouri and Arkansas and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court in the Western District of Missouri.

I practice primarily in the areas of appeals, trademarks, and copyrights.  I have handled more than 250 cases in the state and federal appellate courts in some 60 substantive areas and have argued 16 before the Missouri Supreme Court.  To date, nearly 100 lawyers from outside of my firm, in 19 Missouri counties, have referred cases to me to handle in the appellate courts.  I have also handled more than 350 applications to register trademarks in the United States  Patent and Trademark Office.. I served as a member of the Missouri Supreme Court Civil Rules Committees from 1989 to 2002.  The Court appointed me as an original member of its Appellate Practice Committee, on which I still serve, in 2002.  I am the author of "Civil Rules Practice," 17A Missouri Practice (2d ed. 2012).  I have also written numerous articles on civil trial and appellate practice and regularly speak at seminars sponsored by The Missouri Bar and others..
