After a long and diverse legal career in Washington, D.C. I have joined “Ferree Law” to defend those facing criminal charges.. I received my law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1992, graduating summa cum laude and order of the coif. While at Georgetown, I received the Hugh J. Fegan award for the highest academic average in the class, was a Law Fellow teaching assistant, and was selected to the Georgetown Law Journal based on academic performance. In addition to my law degree, I have an M.B.A. from San Jose State University, and a B.A. from Dartmouth College.. My path in the law has not been without unexpected turns. I began my career by clerking for a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, which led naturally upon the termination of my clerkship to a position in the appellate practice at Wilmer Cutler & Pickering of Washington, D.C. After two years with Wilmer, I took my practice to a small firm called Goldberg, Godles, Wiener & Wright, where I became a partner in 1998.. In 2001, my appellate career was interrupted when I was, by political appointment, named Chief of the Media Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission. At one point, USA Today suggested that I had "one of the sharpest legal minds in Washington" (). After my political term ended, I served for six months as interim President and CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, overseeing the primary funding mechanism for the public radio and television broadcasting systems in the United States, and then joined the Entertainment and Media Practice Group of Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP as a partner. For most of the past three years, I served as President and CEO of the Progress & Freedom Foundation, a Washington, D.C. think tank.
