Tom serves on the International Trademark Association (INTA) Trademark Office Practices Committee, which oversees the operations of the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.. Tom's speaking engagements include the Intellectual Property Owner's Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, INTA, the American Bar Association, the D.C. Bar, the Virginia State Bar, the Intellectual Property Law Institute of Canada, and the Law Education Institute.. As Chair of INTA's Legislation Committee Tom helped draft the Federal Trademark Dilution and Anti-Cybersquatting statutes. Tom founded INTA's Political Action Committee and served as its first Chair. Tom  chaired the Intellectual Property Owner's Legislative Analysis Subcommittee, served on the Board of the Virginia State Bar's Intellectual Property Law Section and on the Council of the ABA's IP Law Section and as Chair of the ABA Section's Trademark Division.. Tom's articles have appeared in "IPToday," "World Intellectual Property Review," The Media Law Resource Center "Media Law Letter," "Metropolitan Corporate Counsel," CSC's "Trademark Insider" and ABA publications.. Tom began his career as an Aide to Senator John McCain and Congressman Frank Wolf. He has been an officer of numerous community groups.. Tom received his B.A. in Government with an English Minor from the College of William and Mary and his J.D. from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at William and Mary.  He has served on the Board of the William & Mary Law School Association..
