Originally from Puerto Rico, after finishing her master’s degree in diplomacy from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, she lived in China, Brazil, Peru, Italy, and France and traveled to more than 100 countries. LAURA GIBBS focuses her practice in all areas of family law including litigation, mediation, conciliation, arbitration and appellate practice.. The Massachusetts Family Law Journal and the Connecticut Family Law Journal both published Laura’s article entitled, "Forging Meaningful Relationships With Children: The Issues and Controversies Surrounding the Representation of Children in the Context of Divorce Custody Proceedings" (1999).. Laura earned her J.D., cum laude, from Boston College Law School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from Loyola University, New Orleans. Laura has been selected for inclusion in the New England Rising Stars® (2005 - 2010) and New England Super Lawyers® (2011 – 2020) for her work in family law.

After graduating from Duke Law School, I clerked for the Hon. Monroe G. McKay, Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in Salt Lake City, UT.  After my clerkship, I spent 3 and a half years as a commercial litigator in the Honors Program at the U.S. Department of Justice, in Washington, DC.  I then moved into private practice at the large national firm, Morgan Lewis, where I focused on appellate and Supreme Court practice, commercial litigation, and trademark litigation.  After two years, I returned to my roots in Boston and joined Foley Hoag, a major Boston law firm.  There, I practiced primarily in the area of patent litigation, trademark litigation, and computer and Internet law.  In June 2007, I decided to leave Foley Hoag and open my own practice.  I now focus on business litigation, intellectual property, and appellate litigation.  I draw upon my years of practice for the federal government and large law firms to provide big firm expertise and sophistication to companies and individuals with business-related disputes, at a more affordable price.
