Ms. Harpell concentrates her practice in the area of family law. She practices throughout Delaware and in the neighboring counties of Pennsylvania. She gets to know each client individually and works closely with them to protect their rights and families. Ms. Harpell negotiates custody and visitation agreements tailored to the family’s needs if possible. But if an agreement can’t be reached, Ms. Harpell will fight in court for her client’s right to see their child or to protect a child from an ex-spouse that is a danger to the child. Ms. Harpell also assists clients with divorce, proving cohabitation to terminate alimony, child support, PFAs, and third party visitation. Mr. Heisman has been litigating complex commercial disputes on a national basis for over thirty years. I have drafted judicial orders and memoranda on custody and ancillary matters. I have also conducted research on various areas of family law, including protection from abuse matters and animal welfare.. While in law school, I interned with the Office of the Child Advocate of Delaware and worked for Copeland Taylor, LLC. At Copeland Taylor, I assisted with case preparation in divorce and ancillary matters, prepared draft motions and stipulations for custody, divorce, and ancillary matters, and helped prepare for protection from abuse matters.. Through the Office of the Child Advocate, I prepared case timelines for the Child Abuse and Neglect Committee meetings, assisted with case preparation in child dependency and neglect matters, and prepared materials and reports on procedures for agencies and organizations helping substance exposed infants. I also drafted an outline for a Memorandum of Understanding to implement federal and state law regarding substance exposed infants.. In summer 2020, I interned with the Honorable Vivian Medinilla in the New Castle County Superior Court. In this role, I gained an understanding of criminal law in practice by observing oral arguments on motions, plea-by-appointment, and sentencing calendars. I also drafted orders in response to criminal motions and memoranda on criminal law cases and asbestos litigation..
