Soccer is a very important part of my life.  I hold a Soccer Players' Agent License issued by the United States Soccer Federation in accordance with licensing requirements of FIFA, the governing body for global soccer.  This license enables me to represent soccer players and teams worldwide.. I play on two "old boys" teams:  Red Zingers (over 50) and Bainbridge island United (over 55) in the Greater Seattle Soccer League.  It's a lot of fun and we get to play against some former pros from the old North American Soccer League, guys I used to pay to watch play.. I got into soccer in Denmark in the early 1970s thanks to my wife's brother, sister and father all of whom were heavily into the Danish national team.  I've followed Denmark and its club teams including FC Copenhagen and Odense Boldklub since then and was lucky enough to have been in Copenhagen when Denmark won the European Championship in 1992.  I have several friends in Denmark who played professionally and for the Danish national team.  Some of them are now coaches.. In 2009 I attended a Copa Libertadores match at La Bombonera in Buenos Aires, and Boca Juniors became another favorite of mine.  Unfortunately for Boca, their performance has declined steadily since then!  I also follow Estudiantes and Independiente.. A Seattle Sounders FC inaugural season ticketholder, I look forward to great success for the team, and to Portland and Vancouver joining the fray in 2011!

People, clients and courts trust me because I do what I say, handle problems as they come in, listen critically and have a bulldog temperament well suited for communication, argument and litigation in the legal arena. With thousands of court appearances and recorded interviews under my belt in private practice, I know when and how to listen, question, speak and argue. Aside from my litigation background, as of 2018, I rank in the top 25 nationally in IBJJF jujitsu at my belt and weigh and find balance with training regularly. Firm: Micchel B Gillett

Hi, I'm Mike Gillett.. My Seattle-based law practice is devoted to fighting for your property rights and your economic rights. Under the law, you are entitled to the reasonable use of your property, and to responsibly conduct your business. I'm here when you need an advocate for your rights in a court of law or before a government agency - both state and federal.. After graduating from Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, I was admitted to the Washington Bar in 1980. I went to work as an associate at the Law Offices of Roger M. Leed, a small environmental and land use litigation firm in Seattle. In 1985, I began a four-year stint as an aide to U.S. Representative Al Swift in Washington, D.C., assisting him on environmental and energy legislation. I returned to Seattle in 1989, opening The Gillett Law Offices. For the next 11 years, most of my work was lobbying on environmental legislation and regulations. I represented both large and small businesses.. In  2000, I returned to a litigation-oriented practice, working for the McElroy Law Firm in Seattle - again, a small environmental and land use litigation firm. In 2005, I opened The Gillett Law Firm. My practice is primarily litigation in such areas as boundary disputes, tree law, environmental contamination, administrative law, and general property law. I also handle some employer issues, including litigation concerning workplace safety and industrial insurance taxes.. I was born in California in 1955, and spent most of my first 25 years there. My father was a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy, and my mother worked in procurement for the Defense Department. My wife, Teresa, and I were married in 1988, and have two adult daughters.. I enjoy barbequing for big backyard parties. I have interests in U.S. history, Catholic liturgy, Dostoevsky, and social justice. And, increasingly, I like to travel to warm places in the winter.

A good legal representation of all accused of crimes is vital for our system to work. When criminal charges are brought all the power of the state is aimed at the accused. Many of my clients have limited educations, are mentally ill, or have suffered abusive relationships. Our current priorities as a society result in putting these people in jail, rather than providing help. I treat my clients with dignity and make the best of the far too limited resources provided for public defense.
